What an incoherent reaction.
I am fully against trump. Against racism. And I have no interest at all in this childish twitter behaviour.
On topic, I think this board if full of famous people. Some just lurking, some posting under nicknames. The internet is not that big and the whole community hangs around here. People are way too curious to see what is written and people are way too scared to post under their real names.
"The internet is not that big"
wow
Assuming that "the whole community" means "the business," there are 3 groups of people: those who read and/or post here, those who say they don't but do, and those who don't. There are plenty of people in all three piles.
That's still an awful lot. What I meant is that there are not that many big community boards like these, about Broadway, and that it is usually very interesting what is posted here (on the site as well as on the forum), and that I have met very few people in the Broadway community that don't visit this site often. Don't forget that this business is about ego's, curiosity, new projects, gossip, money, opinions, and people are way to curious to let all that info pass them by :)
Yes, obviously, there are only really 2 options for "boards" so they will attract those who are so inclined. But if you "have met very few people in the Broadway community that don't visit this site often," then you need to get out more. In fact, I would venture to say that there is an inverse relationship between one's importance in significant terms, and the likelihood of visiting here often. And your sense of what this business is about, while not untrue, is, shall we say, limited.

I would imaging that someone in the business would view the boards like the featured guests on Jimmy Kimmels “celebrities read mean tweets” view the tweets directed at them. with various reactions:
I remember getting a nice message from LaChiusa as well. Long ago, Nathan Lane used to post every now and then as well.

I'm Glen Kelly, and I lurk here all the time. Whether or not I'm famous is another issue.

And whether or not it's an issue, you do great work.

I think one's "importance" is usually more about what others think than for the person him/herself, and these people are actually much more normal and likely to visit here than you might think, as it's one of the places where you can read people's true opinions in detail. So I think you are kind of underestimating that.
I'm not a name dropper but I have spoken to people and received messages on here from people of whom most wouldn't believe that they lurk here.
Also, I mentioned a list of things that are often discussed here, it's not my complete view of the business.
yes there are people at very high levels who do come here for whatever purpose, but what you said was that you "have met very few people in the Broadway community that don't visit this site often" and that's not correct. Your anecdotes do not alter that. And that's all I was saying.
This is a tangent of the subject of reading reviews: some people do, some don't.

If Dave28282's sample size is very small (as I suspect it is), then it could very well be correct that he has "met very few people in the Broadway community that don't visit this site often." But I would agree with you that it is not credible that there are many high level theater people spending time on this site, though I understand the human-all-too-human desire of some who post here to think that somebody important may actually be paying attention to them.

I'm a fan. Are you responsible for the "Somewhere" cello quote in "A Whole New World?"

True, and a lot of people who say they don't or don't talk about it at all still do.
I think, just like in real life, there is a lot more happening here than meets the eye. The fact that some people don't realize this is perhaps a good thing.
It's like nobody can imagine what's in the trunk of the car driving next to them on the freeway and most people will say it's nothing special, yet, when you read the newspaper the next day, you read that a body was dumped and found exactly where you drove that day while getting your chicken nuggets, listening to your favorite musical cast album. I call it trivializing reality.
Glen Kelly: Wow, you are truly an accomplished artist! I love Beach Blanket Babylon in SF. Also, I had a great time seeing "The Nance".

You seem to be an expert at knowing what a lot of people do and don't do, don't you? Which makes me think you have a good imagination.

I would call it a good sense of reality.
Backed up by the messages of the people in question I have received on here, in pm's and also people making comments on, for example twitter, about discussions here, or mentioning things in interviews that were only said here, plus I know many people in the Broadway community.
You could also argue that "famous broadway people don't look here" is a very far fetched imagination.
Everything points in the opposite direction.
"You could also argue that "famous broadway people don't look here" is a very far fetched imagination."
Except that's a false analogy since I expressly stated that I never suggested that. The only issue here is that you are extrapolating from a very small sample size to a very broad generalization. And that's bad reality.
All the different things I have experienced point in the direction that many famous people visit the board. That's what I have seen and experienced, so that's what my opinion is based on. Of course it's not to say that every person does it, I'm just saying that it very well might be more than you think.
But to be honest, I couldn't care less if anyone else agrees with this or has experienced the same or is unable to believe it. See what you want to see.
FYI folks, speaking of fame- the BWW Cabaret Awards are now accepting nominations. Would all of you be lambs and nominate ALONE IN THE WOODS at F/54 for Best Special Event (Solo)?
Thanks in advance. xoxo

Marc Shaiman not only used to post here quite regularly, but he even made a tribute video where he impersonated some of the most distinct personalities on this board set to the tune of "Pickalittle (Talk-a-little)" and "Good Morning, Baltimore" retitled "Good Morning, Broadway World". I wish that video was still around as I loved it.
This was a 2011 article that used to have the video: https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/BWW-TV-Marc-Shaimans-Pick-a-Little-Post-a-LittleGood-Morning-BroadwayWorld-20110509
