Well, to play Elphaba, one must be able to sing Defying Gravity without hurting my ears.
My nomination. (Scroll down, the clip is toward the bottom)

Posted: 10/25/04 at 4:56pmI didn't realize Stephanie Block had an attendance problem at "Boy from Oz". I could imagine the posts if Stephanie gets the role, but misses a lot!!!

Courtney Love or Liza Minnelli.
Just kidding. Not like I'd ever see WICKED again, but I would hope that it would go to someone whos performance isn't as overrated as Idina's. And as to whoever made the post about her not being so friendly at the stage door, if I had to come out after performing 8 times a week to barracaded SHRIEKING 14 year old girls and pre-pubescent homosexual boys, my level of niceness might be limited as well. If any of the fans are half as annoying as any of the WICKED-obsessed people on this board, I don't blame her a bit.

I do have to admit that I am a huge Idina fan... but you don't honestly believe..

that do you???? I have met tons of other lead actors and actresses who also perform 8 times a week, and are sooo appreciative and generous toward their fans. I know this has been discussed before, but it bothers me when people say that about Idina. She goes through the same thing that other performers go through.

luvwicked416, lets get something straight please.
I did not say she was not nice. I addressed it to whoever made that post about her not being friendly - read carefully. I wouldn't know if she's nice or not becuase I am also an actor and I don't stalk people outside stage doors. I have met her outside of WICKED many many times, and she's always been lovely. But if you are comparing Ms. Menzel to other broadway actors, which I was not, her job is harder, as WICKED fans are unlike fans of any other show on Broadway, much like the original RENT-heads in 1996. They're not just fans - they eat, sleep, and breathe WICKED most of the time. Not all of them, but a good amount of them - enough to make any actor leave their dressing room with fear for their life. Laura Bush should play Elphaba.

MUNKESTRAP- I understood what you meant, and i'm not blaming your or critizizing you for anyhting you said. I too have met Idina a bunch of times at the stage door... and it makes me upset that she isn't more personable. And i get annoyed when people single her out like she is a Godess and is above treating her fans with respect.
However, no matter what she does at the stage door, i will not think less of her as a performer... she is phenomenal.
Thanks all Munestrap- no hard feelings

Posted: 10/25/04 at 6:42pmStephanie didn't have an attendance problem....What constitutes an attendance problem anyway? 1,2,5,10 shows missed? To my recollection she may have missed only 5or 6 days in 1 full year. I'd hardley say that's a problem. Now Idina...on the other hand...She may have an attendance problem.

Posted: 10/25/04 at 8:33pmTiny-Dancer, I think you may be mistaken about Idina's attendace problem. From what I have read on this board, she has only missed a few performances not previously scheduled.
Wishes come true, not free.

Munkustrap...
It cracks me up to read how the expression 'stalking' is used these days. You said you don't stalk people outside stage doors. I'm not a stage door person myself but to put fans who go to the stage door to get an autograph/photo etc on one level with stalkers is a bit of joke. 'To stalk someone outside a stage door' is not quite possible, my dear.
