Thoughts about the production?
I felt that the show had some good parts but wasn't complete and like J/H the minor characters were not featured enough and didn't really have a place in the story. I did enjoy some of the some but I felt that it was a shame Linda wasn't in it. The songs were written for her, you could tell. All in all, they should have a concert of the music and make a recording.

I thought the best thing about the show was the music, the special effects, Kelly O'Hara and Don Stephenson.
I love Frank Wildhorn and thought his music was great in this show, but the book and lyrics left much to be desired.
Yes, the show has been recorded in the style it was composed - rock & roll and pop. It will be released in about a month or so under Frank and Jeremy Roberts' new record company.

The plot line needed some MAJOR work, cuz I wouldn't have known what was going on if I didn't know the Dracula story fairly well to begin with. The music was pretty good, but I wish there were more real instruments and less synth. The effects were astonishing, but the constant flying got pretty old.
The performers were great, esp Tom. That man is a force of nature.
Was it a bad show? Yes. Could it have been improved fairly easily? Absolutely.

Yankeefan - why did you see it 3 times if you thought it was a terrible show?

Posted: 9/5/05 at 12:07pmI thought the show had great potential, th emusic was beautiful and Tom and Kelli were amazing. I found eth plot to be really thin, there was just too much put into too short a time frame, it should have been lengthened or stuff should have been cut out. It lacked character development, and I dunno.. bottom line for me was that the plot was much too rushed and nothing was explained or developed.

Posted: 9/5/05 at 12:42pmI have never disliked a show as much as I disliked this. I'm sorry to say that. I felt bad for the actors, who were doing a great job, because they had to perform in something like that every night. I agree that Kelli O'Hara was very good.

WildhornFanatic - I love Frank's music and I love the cast. The show itself, however, was very blah. I wish we could have a CD with Tom and Melissa, but I suppose the 10-track sampler will have to do.
Any ideas when the studio cd is coming out?

Posted: 9/5/05 at 2:19pmI saw it and I am glad I did. It wasn't great but the special effects were spooky and the singing and acting were wonderful. Unfortunately, the songs didn't live up to the rest of the show.

I saw it once and didn't enjoy it much. Too much flying effects, quite dull score (a couple of good songs though) and absolutely horrible book!! The new ending was... oh-please!!!!
Tom Hewitt sung the title role extremely well, but his acting wasn't that much of a stretch - mainly just walking/flying around with his eyes wide open and dead-serious expression on his face. Melissa Errico and Don Stephenson were good in their roles but the best thing about the show was definitely Kelli O'Hara in the supporting role.
Won't miss this show.
