of course, i'd love to see another dark haired Latina like Mandy play the role, so maybe i can fill in? =D

Why not just suggest that Kristen play Aida. That's about as outlandish as suggesting she play Amneris. Too old and too short and all wrong. No matter how many times it's said and how earnestly, she is NOT right for every role under the sun. And if it's EVER Debbie Gibson, I will move overseas and never come back.

Ouch, not feeling the Kristin love! =*( but really, I didnt think Kristin was any older than Sherie Rene Scott? I think they are both beautiful and call me crazy, but Kristin looks like shes still in her 20's to me! and who said Amneris has to be tall? =*( oh well lol it was just a thought

I think Alice is too old and harsh-looking...Deborah (I can't get used to calling her that:)) Gibson would probably be good.

She might not be physically "right", but I think Kelly Clarkson would make a cute Amneris. I think she'd sound great with "My Strongest Suit" and "I Know the Truth".

Or, of course, Valerie Bertinelli.

Lori Ann Strunk!! She's the darn u/s and should darn well be promoted...

But for new people, I suggest Deborah Gibson, Maggie Benjamin, Anastasia Barzee. I'd also like to see an Amneris with darker skin...sorta like how Saigon did the Asian Ellen to Kim bit.

To the people who praised Lisa Brescia, Sherie Rene Scott, and Kelly Clarkson, you all have earned Brownie Points in my book.

Kristin may look 20, but a mature 20. You wouldn't expect someone as grown up as Kristin to act like a egotistical (but quickly a change of heart at the end randomly) little princess. You WOULD expect that from Kelly Clarkson and Jessica Simpson.

Sherie Rene Scott is type cast as the ditzy vulnerable belter blonde. If you don't believe me, look at her past roles and Forbidden Broadway. Don't compare her to Kristin. It's like apples and oranges. Now Maggie Benjamin is a great idea. I met her at Competitions last year, and she was so sweet. She was about to enter my elevator, but some moron ran up for an autograph so I yelled MAGGIE! I LOVE YOU! MARRY ME!

I think all the suggestions here are great, but since Michelle Williams is coming in to star as Aida, I hope they put an unknown on as Amneris to be discovered.

You're absolutely right Kev. I also think it's the most boring and *detrimental* thing to do,(bumping up the understudy). I don't think they care about the Amneris role enough to stunt cast it. Besides, it failed so miserably the one time they did it with Taylor Dayne, that they probably abandoned the idea altogether. Imo, the oft practiced "promoting the understudy" thing, as is repeatedly done in shows like RENT, makes the whole production stale.
