How was Teri Klausner?
Never saw any of them in person, but from the clips I can find on youtube, my favorite replacement was Florence Lacey- effortless sound!
I saw Nancy Opel on a night Patti Lupone was out. I was very disappointed at first, but Nancy was quite good. I had front row center seats the first time I saw it and paid $30 which was a lot to a 16 year old at the time. Terri Klausner had already left the production when I saw it in December 1980.
I saw (the late) Patricia Hemenway and Florence Lacey as Eva, and I was in the show in summer stock with Marin Mazzie in the title role.
All three were excellent.

Another vote for for Nancy Opel!
Susan Cella was also on a lot during the original run.
I worked with Sue at Trinity Theater (off-off-Bway) where she was the resident company casting director, but sadly I never got to see her take over the lead in EVITA.
That was odd because my husband was the assistant casting director for a couple of years and we used to go see replacements quite a bit. Off the top of my head, I'd say Terry Klausner was my favorite and I also liked Nancy Opel, but, as I said, I never got to see Sue (who was great in the ensemble).
I'm glad to hear she was appreciated because I liked her as a person very much.

Is it true that Teri Klausner's performance was closer to Elaine Paige's style then to Patti's?
