The 'star' of the original Broadway production was choreographer Onna White. Tommy Steele was onstage and charmed the whole audience, but it took Onna's work to put the show across and made it memorable.
One of Onna's trademark staging ideas was a large number of people doing the same thing. Ergo, there has to be a large dancing chorus, at least 6 and 6, but preferably more.
Unless a new production has a choreographer of equal muscle, the show will lay an egg.
"If my life weren't funny, it would just be true. And that would be unacceptable."
