Why are Idina and Harvey mentioned in every bad joke made on here?

When somebody (who is not a "Broadway Legend" on here) asks a question about casting in a show something like that, I've noticed that there is always one post that mentions Idina in the lead role and Harvey Fierstein in a supporting role.

Is the thought of Idina and Harvey being cast in shows really that funny of an idea?

Sorry, tired and have seen this joke made in atleast 3 threads I've read tonight.

seriously guys, as a huge FAN of idina's, the jokes get REALLY old, really quickly.

Why is it so "fun" to make bad jokes about her any way? it might be one thing to make fun of idina FANGIRLS, but idina fangirls are VERY different from idina herself. If you dont like the rabid fanbase, thats totally fine. I even ask you to use tact in duscussing them, but honestly I get annoyed by the fangirls too (and when I say fangirls, I ONLY mean the people who deliberately act crazy and rediculous and proobably make both idina's life and the lives of her other fans a living hell). But if you dont like her, please, PLEASE use tact in how you say it, and DONT come on and make rude jokes. I really do NOT think thats too much to ask. And as I've said many times, this doesn't just go for her, it goes for ALL broadway actors who are discussed on here. it is just plain RUDE to make nasty comments about people you dont even KNOW. Ok, I'm done lecturing now, but honestly. Why do some people have to be so immature?

note: now, if you want to make harmless, NOT hurtful jokes, THAT is totally fine! I know I sound like kind of a prude, and I promise I'm not. I can take a joke absoltuely no problem (heck, my favorite comedien is stephen lynch! lol). But I DO mind when people make comments that THEY think are funny just because they're nasty. THATS not funny, thats just rude

I feel bad for 'dina - though she's swimming in money thanks to Wicked, she's also got some blacklash from it. Oh well, tis the business. I wonder what her next move in theater will be.

But yeah, the jokes are kind of lame, I would agree. The bad thing is, wit is sort of lost on this board, not because of the memebers, but because it's hard to "type" wit.

Listen...I think both of them are 2 extremely talented performers. The roles of elphaba and edna would not have been the same. But they are also talked about a ton on this board and no one means what they say. Plus what I said was in context to a Brooklyn message tonight...how many people bad mouthed that show when it had its run?

I don't think anybody jokes about her in a vulgar, mean-spirited fashion. It's just so easy to use her in a humorous sense when referring to something of the ridiculous (EX: Theater's signature). It's nothing of a statement to her persona, I think, but rather, since she is associated with something that's become a symbol of overhyped nonsense, she's thus become that symbol of being a joke. I don't think it's right to constantly pin her for these jokes, as they do get old, but that's not to say that I think any harm's coming from it. I see both sides of this crap.

In other news, I hear Idina Menzel is playing Terry Schiavo in a new musical...

I think people say Idina to poke fun at the Wicked fans who think she is God- and people say Harvey because they really just want to see Harvey play every character ever written.

Idina and Harvey have been out drinking and towards the end of the evening, nature calls. So they duck into the bathroom at the plaza and head to adjoining stalls. All is well till Idina knocks on the partition: "Harvey, is there any TP in there? This stall is out!"

Harvey says "Sorry hon, none in here either!" After a moment you hear Idina ask "Do you have any tissue? A kleenex? Maybe a napkin from dinner?"

"No, sorry hon I got nothing" says Harvey. After a bit you hear Idina speak again. "Harvey, you got two fives for a ten?"
