What matters is how well the actress performs the role, not whether it was written especially for her. Do you think the role of VELMA was written for BEBE NEUWIRTH?? It wasn't but she won a TONY for it anyway and she DIDN'T carry the show on her own! Was ROXIE written for Ann Reinking? No but still she got nominated. Was NORMA DESMOND written for Glenn Close? No it wasn't and wait - she won a TONY for it! So much of your theory...
