My friend knows that i am obsessed with broadway and anything that has to do with it. So she asked me, "Why do you like broadway?" At first i couldnt come up with a good answer because i think i like it all! But specifically, i think its the variety of talent, the things that go on backstage, how different people can play the same role and make it their own, and just the sights and sounds! Im not talkin about any specif show just broadway in gerneral. Soo can u answer the question? ~l8r~

I don't love Broadway. I love good theater. I worship great theater. Sometimes good theater actually manages to be performed on Broadway and every once in a blue moon, great theater is too. So much Broadway fare is such crap that it can be heartbreaking.
interesting =D
A community of people that get away with singing about porn and sex? How can you NOT love it!

Why? Well, honestly, I have this weird belief in populist theatre, in the sense that theatre works can and ought to speak to people on their level instead of pandering to them or elevating themselves above the audiences. I admire a great many things about art theatre, and I enjoy pure-entertainment theatre from time to time, but I do think that there is an unacknowledged populist streak with regard to what works on Broadway, and I like that.
That, and the fact that Broadway is a showcase for some of the best acting and singing in the world.
Oh, and I find something infinitely attractive about New York's theatre district and its places. Particularly Shubert Alley, which is a sort of shrine for me.

I love Broadway for one reason and one reason only: the carpeting!

See, this goes back to what I was saying. I like good carpeting. I love great carpeting. Unfortunately, there is a lot of bad carpeting on Broadway but people think it's great just because it's on Broadway. Which is heartbreaking.

Now, I beg to differ. I've seen more great carpeting on Broadway than I've seen bad; although the stuff on the floor of the Palace really needs to be replaced PRONTO!
Hello everybody...
My first post.. :)
I love theatre... Broadway theatre is arguably the grand-dad of them all...
Theatre takes us to a different place, its a wonderful thing. I'm not ashamed to say that a good curtain call will bring a tear to my eye just about any time.
Why does anyone love Broadway. Because it was the pinnacle of success (once!) in theatre history. It meant arrival, acceptance, money and fame: that your name would be known in New York as well as Kansas City. And it meant that you would attract other talent to write for you and display you to your best advantage. That Broadway does not exst anymore, except in history books and old cast albums. But once it was very palpable indeed!

hmm....so many reasons. It's hard to explain. There is a certain magic about the theatre that is indescribable.

I too WORSHIP GREAT THEATRE. I love Broadway, but I must confess that I was very dissapointed last weekend. I was in town over the weekend and saw four shows. The best STILL BEING "Cabaret"!!! I saw "Nine" and John Stamos IS NO Antonio and his vocals in "The Grand Canal" sequence were oh so weak. I loved him in "Cabaret" but Guido, I fear, is too much for him. Eartha Kitt, Marni Nixon and Rebecca Luker were GREAT!!Mary Stuart Masterson seems to be better than ever. We need some GREAT theatre back on Broadway!!!

I love the alchemy that happens whenever you put a bunch of strangers in a room, combine that with a band of performers and a team of creative artists who all have a story to tell either through song or beautiful words and images,or sometimes hopefully all of those ingredients and then you dim the lights and see what happens....
