Why isn't David Burnham taking over for Matthew

No problem, emcee. To be honest it was something I wondered too. I know the understudy isn't necessarily somthing commonly done, so normally I might not have even given it a thought. But I had heard such wonderful things about David, and being as the show will only be running another 4 months, I thought maybe they would give it to him. And I was hoping. I'm sure Aaron will be great as well

Well, it happened with Barret Foa, but I don't think it happens all that often. Why isn't David Burnham taking over for Matthew

I think it's great when it happens. The understudies have to know the part as well as the leads and have to be ready to go on at short notice. You would hope that the production would cast understudies who are as capable as the leads so that when the leads are out you don't get an inferior performer.

I was really hoping David would be promoted and was sad when I found out they'd gotten a replacement instead; I saw him go on the first time I saw the show and loved him as much as I love Matt in the role, which is a helluva lot. I'm excited to see Aaron Lazar, though, as I've never heard of him, though I've probably seen him in something.

Ive never seen him in the role, but I have seen him perform certain songs from Piazza and in other things, and I never got that impression

i read some criticisms to that effect on another board. i don't think he is effeminate but i think homophobia played a part in it. i think they're AFRAID he may seem effeminate because he is small.
