Why not John Hill?

As crazy I am about Michael Arden...why doesn't anyone talk about John Hill. His voice is so beautiful and so expressive. I just melt. I really do.

I was having this discussion with somebody the other day, sort of. I think there's so much buzz surrounding Michael for two reasons:
He's so young, and maybe it's a surprise to have such serious vocal talent at... how old is he? Like 21?
And Michael's voice is kind of different. John's is great, but he sort of sounds like everybody else who has a great voice. Michael doesn't sound like everybody else, and maybe that's why people like him.

Eliza? That's new. Actually, I saw the person who played Eliza in my summer cast of My Fair Lady at the mall. It was weird, she didn't see me.

Michael Arden is NOT 21, is he? He's graduated from Juilliard, so he's got to be at least 22, unless he skipped a grade or something. Or maybe he just TRAINED there and didn't graduate.

I think the reason that John Hill doesn't get much credit because he's not really an actor. He's a pretty face with a decent singing voice.

im turning 23 in March and hes younger than me because he said he was a freshmen during 9/11 (I was a sophmore) but it might just be a few months difference. Updated On: 2/20/05 at 09:31 PM

I agree with you, matthius. I don't have much to go by, but when I heard him in BARE, that's exactly what I thought of him.

I don't know....he's certainly cute and has a killer body, but every time I saw BARE I couldn't help but wish he wasn't in that role. He was the weakest link in that cast, in my opinion. His acting leaves a lot to be desired, and he was often flat and completely straining his voice for most of the show, which resulted in numerous cracks and breaks. He got the job done, but doesn't really do it for me.

last summer i saw john as link in hairspray. when i saw that he would play link on the understudy board i was ecstatic! i had heard such great things about him and i was excited to finally get to see him live.

sadly, his performance was a huge let down. huge. for someone who was being built up so much in the broadway fan community, i was truly disappointed.

on the other hand, i LOVE LOVE LOVED his voice in the bare sampler.

unfortunately i never got to see bare live, and have never heard a bootleg...did his voice sound a lot different then on the sampler?

I would have loved it too!! I'm SO upset that I missed him this past January when he came back as Link
