I watched James Joyce's the Dead's performance in Tony and was totally hooked by the music, the passion and the down-to-earth's style. I have never seen the show, even heard the show before, but that 10min performance is wonderful. I am wondering why there is no cast recording available. The music sounds fantastic to me.
Any one had seen this show before?

There is no recording because the show sucks!!!!!! Such a bad, pointless musical!
So you have seen the show? Do you have song list ?
It put me to sleep
I saw the show and loved it. Too bad it was never recorded.

I love the song that Alice and Emily recorded.
Alice and Emily recorded "Adieu to Ballyshannon".
Sanda, I saw the show on Broadway and loved it. Truly Scrumptious even winked at me during the curtain call. It was a very bittersweet show, just like the story. Most of the songs were performed as friends gathered for a party. If I remember correctly, the last two songs were character numbers and were very haunting. The Broadway cast alone cried out for a cast recording. So much talent on one stage. It is a jewel of a show.
Thank you MEF and chess.
I saw the Tony performance. Do you know who that lady is with a green dress and who play it? Her voice is very impressive. I love the music, very Irish, down-to-earth but powerful. especially the drum in the music makes my vein bumps faster. Is the song written by the composer or comes from Irish folk song directly?
Yes, I love the show. And I doubt it sucks a single bit. It got several Tony nominations and won best book. I also read Ben Brantly's mix-positive review.
There are so many craps with a cast recording. Why that one doesn't.

I am also upset that there is no cast recording. I saw The Dead and absolutely loved it! I have a letter from Emily Skinner from around that time and she was lamenting the fact that there wasn't going to be a recording- the music was just so pretty. At least we have the one song from Emily's CD.
It was an absolutely lovely show. Perhaps Theatreboy11 was too young to appreciate it.
Was the Dead a limitted run on Broadway? I read that it was an off-broadway show originally then transfer to Broadway. Was Alice Riply playing the lady with a green dress? If it was she then she sounded so different from Sideshow and I loved her more.
I think I may have been too young to appreciate this as well. I didn't enjoy myself at all.
