"Wicked" is coming to Mpls. next season. I sort of want to see it just because of all the hoopla surrounding it. I only know one song "Defying Gravity", am not familiar with the book by Maguire, and know that everyone tears this show to shreds because of the teenybopper Wickedheads on the site. (No offense to you all).
So through the negativity towards the show, I'm letting it affect whether or not I should shell out the cash when it comes. I look at it as seeing the new "Star Wars" film just to say that I saw it.

Posted: 6/13/05 at 11:25pmthere's so much back and forth on this show that i recomend you see it and make your own decision. from my personal experience, i know it won't be a waste of money, believe me. go see it. or why don't you buy the cd to sorta preview it? then you can decide if you like the music, and take it from there.

Posted: 6/13/05 at 11:35pmIf you like "feel good" shows and have a love for the Wizard of Oz definetly go see it. But please go to the show with no memory of what you know about OZ lore. I swear to god if one stupid little fan compares the movie to the show and calls the Witch when referring to the film "Elphaba" again I will scream...but I do digress. I recommend reading the book as well. Maybe before seeing the show to get an understanding of the plot. Mainly because the plot is so basic and the book is more of a detailed story and the show is just a very condensed version. get the cast recording and listen to Grammy winning music. I'm a fan. I loved it...now I can't stand the show and its fans, but I still recommend it to anyone.

Posted: 6/13/05 at 11:36pmThe musical is actually a lot easier to sit through than the book.

Posted: 6/13/05 at 11:37pmRead the book first...its harder to enjoy it after seeing the musical...and the book is really quite clerverly plotted

Posted: 6/13/05 at 11:41pmI'd say give it a shot. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but I enjoyed the wicked more than some other musicals. I also am really getting into the book.

No don't see it. You'll turn into a horrible Wickedite. You'll start staging Wicked mini-thingies in your room. Singing "Defying Gravity" into your hairbush, idolizing "Idinedenshoshabean" and worst of all you'll start typing like this:
IsNt WiiCkeD LiKe KooL!!!OMG!!TeEHeE!!LOL!!YaaAYY!!!

Posted: 6/14/05 at 12:18amHeck. Go see it. I intend on seeing it when it comes to Pittsburgh (though I do not intend on spending upwards of 60 dollars on a full price ticket) if only to see what all the hype is about. Maybe I'll get it then. I didn't really get the cast recording. Loved the book though.
