Wicked 2/25 mat. Review

This was my first time seeing Wicked (fourth row orch. was exciting!), so just let me say that I was expecting A LOT from this show. I LOVED it, but it wasn't as "incredible" as I think people make it sound. I don't know why. I could just be me. It just didn't strike me as the major mega hit that everyone must see in their lifetime, which I think a lot of people think it is.

Eden (Elphaba)---This girl can SING! I have nothing negative to say about her. Her acting was amazing, her voice was amazing. She looks almost identicle to Idina when she's green. I was very very happy with her.

Megan Sikora (u/s Galinda)---She was really into the role. I loved her. She really stood out in the cast. Her voice was strong. You could tell she wasn't used to the role though. Some of her acting was blank. But she was enjoyable and she was extremely funny.

Anthony Galde (u/s Wizard of Oz)---He was okay. The Wizard wasn't a stand out role for me. He was fun though. His acting...eh. Great singing voice though.

Derrick Williams (Fiyero)---Loved him!! You could tell that his chemistry with Eden was being developed throughout the show.


Again, please don't get me wrong, I LOVED the show but it just dissapointed me. I was expecting to see the most amazing experience a show could offer and I came out seeing just a good show. Do you know what I mean?

And I have a little pointless story to tell. I was in line buying M&Ms and I was looking at the man in the line next to me and it turns out it was Kyan from Queer Eye. I didn't go up to him because I didn't want to be rude. I definetly wouldn't want people bothering me while I'm out with friends, but it was a nice suprise.

I understand what you mean. I went in expecting a lot more, but it was a very good show. Glad you had fun!

OMG! My mother andf I would have DIED if Kyan had been standing next to us!lol! Glad to hear that Megan's u/s was good!

I'm seeing it in Chicago for the first time at the beggining of April. I'm expecting a lot and I hope I don't get too dissapointed. It's coming to Detroit in June and tickets go on sale a few days before I see it in Chicago (they're supposed to sell out fast). I don't know If I should buy tickets for a second time before I even see it once. I own the album and I love it.

I understand that now people are getting so jacked up for Wicked, just because of its constant chit-chat. When I saw it in the summer of 2004, the show wasn't even a year old and I just knew that all of the cast was new, great, and just a good new show. Now, people are making it seem like the best show ever, although most people don't understand how it's slowly deteriorating because of cast changes. So now, when people go see it, they are expecting a huge spectacle, when its not all that people say it is.
I'm glad you liked Eden. I saw her in Brooklyn, which wasn't a great show per say, but at least I've heard her and know what she's capable of.
