I'd agree that Chicago's cast has great leads, but I'd have to say out of all the productions I've seen, which include the tour twice and once on Bway with Shoshana and JLT, that Chicago has the weakest ensemble I've seen. I want to believe it was an off night, but I don't know. I just can't imagine the entire ensemble collectively had a bad night. They started out so weak the night I saw them and did not improve any over the course of the show. And I had pretty good orchestra seats too, so there is no reason they should have sounded that weak from my seat.
Luckily the performances by Ana and Kate were so incredible, plus let's be honest, the ensemble doesn't do a whole lot.
I'd have to say overall, the tour with Stephanie and Kendra was the best show that I saw. But Ana and Kate were the best combination and their chemistry blows the others way out of the water.
"I hope you're all happy, keeping Alan off the team. Couldn't you, for once, open your minds and hearts and hear something that he couldn't see? I, for one, am glad that Alan is blind, so he can't see what, I am so sad to say, you can't hear." -Jerri Blank
