Does anyone know of a wicked message board where people discuss the show and don't care that much if you bring it up? hopefully a wicked fan can help me out.

if you like wicked, that's fine... there are plenty who do, and plenty who don't... and for the most part the ones who don't have specific reasons why they don't... it's not that people hate wicked, it's the fact that this board was overRUN with the "OMG it's the best show ever" threads, and the constant posting about what (unprofessional, i might add) bloopers might happen or did happen and EXPECTING them to happen, what Idina did or didn't do at the stagedoor... and don't get me started on the horrendous grammar these kids use... that's a WHOLE other subject...

anyway, believe me it get's really tiresome... then there are the people who love wicked who are just the opposite, who can have a decent conversation/discussion about the show, respect others opinions, etc, such as Derek2, formanatrix, yes, even emutional, although emu is teetering... but i enjoy reading their posts because they can back up what their opinions with intelligent argument, the same way many of those who dislike the show can back up what they're saying...

i am a democrat, but that isn't determined by my disappointment in Wicked...

I think joeyjoe did a good job of summing up Wicked vs the message board. I'm honestly pretty neutral about Wicked. I saw it in December and enjoyed myself. Do I think it's the best thing to ever hit Broadway? No. The worst? No. It has many elements about it that make it popular and enjoyable to the average theatre-goer and there's nothing wrong with that because it sells tickets and spurs interest in Broadway. Do I want to discuss it ad nauseum? Definitely no, so I usually just avoid threads that appear to be of the OMG variety involving Wicked. I'm a pretty patient person, and that works for me. For others, who are serious students of and participants in musical theatre, I think a tolerance threshold has been crossed and it's now become an inside joke/irritation that evokes an immediate negative response. Newcomers to the board don't understand why they're getting jumped on; they just stepped in to discuss their favorite show...but you have to remember...Wicked opened in October,2003 so it's been discussed here at lenth at least since then and before, so long-time participants on the boards are pretty sick of it regardless of whether they like the show or not.

eyeonbroadway, thank you for expanding on what i was saying... it's also the reason why there aren't so many bashing threads about other shows, because people look at those threads and respond intelligently, although there is one user who claims the people who post on those threads do nothing but sit around all day figuring out new ways to be snobbish and more intelligent, eating crumpets and drinking tea, and then responds to other threads with posts no more than "this show rocks" or "this show sucks ass" or whatever other childish remarks he/she can come up with...

whew!!! anyway, my main point is, if your going to respond to a show thread, please do so intelligently, otherwise, you're only opening yourself up to the bashing...

I like the music and enjoyed the show. But I must agree that I am tired of discussing it or seeing it discussed here. (But here I am discussing it!!! LOL) It just bugs me that you can go into any topic and...bango! Wicked rears it's head! (Notice I did not say ugly head!!) I have discussed the show in a few threads as I am relatively new here and it was a great forum to discuss it. And yes, I was a wee bit obsessed with it before I saw it. But, as I have said a gajillion times it seems, I saw it, it was a nice show. I still listen to it now. But it just seems like to a lot of people, life revolves around Wicked and Ave Q. I had hoped to just have good conversations about shows and theatre in general. I very rarely seem to find threads on the plays that are running. That thread "Wicked eh...or ack" was totally out of control!!! (But of course I posted on it!)
...and again, I ramble!

I happen to love Wicked too...im also an Avenue Q fan

I just cant wait for the new shows to open up, and the Drama Desk and Tony Awards to come out so we can discuss new shows! I mean I love all of this years shows, but lets just leave the comparing alone for awhile. The shows arnt gonna change lol :) Have a nice day

It can be done, musicalfandukie!
I like Wicked and I am Republican.

It just matters how you go about expressing your like of the show.

It can get annoying, but I suppose that is going to be the price to pay to start out a new generation of people that will hopefully develop into musical theatre supporters. They just need to learn how to take criticism better.
