I've done the Cancellation Line afew times now and always took the best available seat. Does anyone know if you can request where you want to sit when you get to the window? As in, if I'm 1st in line, can I say to the guy "What's the cheapest seat you have available?" or is it basically 1st come-1st serve, spend the full $110. I know it's possible the day I go that noone with 50$ seats cancel so that's another possibility. Has anyone ever done that? Thanks

Alright - this is a stupid question, but can someone fill me in on this cancellation line thing? How does it work? Do people actually call and cancel their tickets? What benefit does the person canceling get out of the deal? Especially since these tickets are being re-sold for regular price.

So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?

Well - don't see the point in that. You might as well keep your empty seat at the Gershwin. Nice way to get some extra cash for the mega-hit, I suppose. However, it would be nice if the theatre/show did something in return for someone being nice enough to call ahead of time.

Edited to add: Thanks for the reply, I've been wondering about this process for a while.

I know last summer when I saw Hairspray. I was supposed to go but was sick day of. So, I went to the box office earlier in the day and asked if there was anything they could do. They gave us a number for something called " post date tickets." Esentally what that means is that you give up your seats for that preformance. However, you can call the box office at a later date and see what they have. They then, will put aside however number of tickets you originally orderd. You don't have to pay anything of course because you paid when you were originally buying the tickets.

That's very nice (and fair) in my opinion.
