I just came back from Summer Shock and the best new number is Defying Chenowith. You really need to see the number. It took awhile but i can breathe now!
E- There is a show off Broadway at the Douglas Fairbanks theater called Forbidden Broadway. It has been running for 23 years now. There is a new edition called Summer Shock which will only run to Sept 15th. I have seen every edition of Forbidden Broadway, while Summer Shock is not my favorite it is very very good. The Wicked number and a new Hairspray number are worth seeing the show for. David does a great Harvey. It is still sad that they took out YOU CAN'T STOP MY SEAT. I laughed so hard in the Wicked and Fiddler numbers I thought i might need medical assistance. Wicked Groupies go ask your parents to take you to Forbidden Broadway. You will scream for joy. And I will become Popular again.
I also loved a number that many people DID NOT GET. It was about I AM MY OWN WIFE and it was hysterical. Some of the audience were clueless but about 10 of us were gasping for air.
90 SHORT MINUTES. They took out some of my favorites. God I wish Gerard would put back Chita and Rita, You Can't Stop My Seat, I hate Ben and Glossy Fosse Them. Rose's Turn is still in though!
I can't answer that. I loved HAIRSPRAY! I have never seen Rent. (I would try and see Hairspray and Forbidden Bway) I can't advise on Rent since I have never seen it. Theatermania has a code for Forbidden Broadway.
I have tickets to Wicked on Friday Night, Avenue Q on Saturday night, and an empty space on Saturday afternoon for possibly RENT, Hairspray, or this show.
Well can you come back? If you are only in Long Island here is your solution: See which show has the better tickets. Buy tickets to one and the other the following week. There is your solution. Hairspray is great. I can't tell you not to see it. But I saw it with HARVEY, KERRY and Marissa.
I saw Forbidden Broadway when I was like, 10 years old and I really didn't understand it... so now I'm dying to see it again. I can't wait to see the Wicked spoof, esp. since I'm a big Wicked fan, but I can take a joke and I'm sure its hilarious!!
What are the numbers in the show? What do they do to make fun of Idina, Hugh, Nicole Kidman and the Tony Awards for this year? Did they spoof Avenue Q winning over Wicked??? Do they make fun of Bombay Dreams and Caroline??? I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
