"Wicked": Japan or Germany!
#1"Wicked": Japan or Germany!
Posted: 2/18/08 at 7:38pmI am either going to Europe (England, Belgium, Holland, Germany) or Asia (Japan and Australia) this summer and if I go to Europe I am definitely seeing "Wicked" in London and Stuttgart, and if I go to Asia, then I want to see it in Tokyo and Melbourne. Which production do you think is better: Japan or Germany?

Posted: 2/18/08 at 7:46pmIf it was me, I'd choose to see the Japanese cast, since it doesn't get nearly as much publicity as the German production. Other than the promo on their website, I haven't heard much from the show, and I am really interested to see how the Japanese audiences react to the show! I'm not sure if she is still with the show, but the actress who opened the production sounds amazing!

You got a problem with "Wicked"? I know that it has many critics, but I'm not some little fangirl or something! I appreciate many great musicals if you're thinking that I don't know about theatre.
I think I'm going to Germany, by the way. Has anyone heard this Japanese version of "For Good"? it's totally legal because it's on the Shiki Website!
I'm sad that if I do go to Japan I won't be able to see Numao Miyuki as Tomada Ayako has replaced her!

After four Wicked posts, you are going to have a hard time proving you're not a fangirl dear.

"Wicked" fangirls have always seen "Wicked" more than 10 times. Me, I've seen it 3 times. Second, fangirls only listen to "Wicked" and maybe "Legally Blonde". Me, I listen to a variety of Broadway musicals, from the 1940's to modern times. I have seen many other shows. "Wicked" isn't even my favorite show!
You want fangirl, check out www.witchesofoz.com, or (if you speak German), www.wickeddasmusical.de. Those are fangirls.

According to FIFA & Paul Keating, Australia is now in Asia. :) It is at least economically and commerically tied as much as say Turkey is tied into Europe.
If you choose Melbourne, alot of us Melbourians would be happy to show you around thus you can see Wicked and have a tour guide as well.

""Wicked" fangirls have always seen "Wicked" more than 10 times."
hmmm, I must have missed when that rule was adopted.
I'm with Blaxx, WAY too many Wicked threads have been started when these newbies could just post on the old ones, or better yet, realize that musical theater extends beyond one musical......
I saw Wicked once, it was cute.....but I would certainly not wet my pants over it.....
If you are going to join and post a bunch of Wicked threads you deserve what you get.....

"Hello?! Just stop posting about ReNt and Wicked, we don't need 80 posts of those shows per day."
As we don't hear about this 80+ times per day. If you really are sick of it, you either wouldn't click on it or reply to it to bump up the topic.
Musicaltheatrefan3, since you're new, let me just let you know that you can bump up older threads you may have recently made if you have gotten little or no response to them (just reply with "bump"). People here can get awfully snippy as you have seen. Although I haven't seen any of the casts your interested in, feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

did I say I am not a fan, no...I said I saw it once and it was cute, which it was. Do you have problems reading?
and since you don't pay my bills, or put food in my mouth, I certainly do not have to explain my choice of screenname to you.
and it's spelled "you're" if you are saying "you are"

The German cast is awesome IMO
I am not 100% sure about the Japanese cast as I have only "seen" the short version they do at the Universal park.

Posted: 2/19/08 at 11:04amOoh tough! I think I'd choose London and German Cast, kerry Ellis is amazing as is the German Elphaba.
-Jeff Bowen's worst onstage line flub.

"...I certainly do not have to explain my choice of screenname to you."
But you just did...
Plus, if we are going to be all nit-picky, have you ever heard of this wicked key on your keyboard- it's called "CAPS LOCK" and/or "SHIFT"! It does wonders for those of us who can't capitalize!
And to the actual thread: I'd say Germany-Willemijn Verkaik is amazing. The Japanese cast is great, I just know I'd love to see her live!
