Wicked LA Program

I saw Wicked at the Pantages last night and upon leafing through the program I bought, I saw that the first image in it is one of this great big witch hat and two guys standing around it. And I don't remember seeing that scene in the show. Did I miss something?
But the secret ingredient is love. Dammit.

re: Wicked LA Program

No kidding. That's what I get for living in California. Any idea why they were cut?

re: Wicked LA Program

It was cut because it takes a trap door to pull off the effect, and since it's a national tour not all theatres have the ability to pull it off.
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D

re: Wicked LA Program

why does it need a trap door?

re: Wicked LA Program

If you see the effect live, the hat dissapears through a trap door.

re: Wicked LA Program

I have to say...I never got why there was a GIANT hat on stage, and people dancing around it...I mean, the Munchkins weren't THAT small!
"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

re: Wicked LA Program

I never noticed it went through a trap door! That's why i couldn't figure out why they didn;t do it in L.A.

re: Wicked LA Program

What does no one mourns the wicked go like then?
"I'll bet that you're Kristin Chenoweth MBP!"

re: Wicked LA Program

couldnt they have jsut revamped that effect? like make it collapsable or something? i dont see how they could just open the curtain to nothing... although unrealistic i liked the big hat effect

re: Wicked LA Program

They basically had the monkeys jumping around and then cut the "overture" to just the first vamps of no one mourns the wicked, so there wasn;t a very long overture, just a few seconds.

re: Wicked LA Program

wow that sucks more than the hat.... i love the overture.
