I would like to go to see Wicked at The Gershwin Theatre on Broadway.
I've heard some horror stories about bad seats with obstructed views.
Before I drop $130 a ticket, I would like to hear from people who have been to see this show at this location.
Where are the best seats for viewing Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre?
Thanks
I've seen the show a couple times and sat in different rows each time. I've sat in the very first row because I won tickets at the lottery. It was a little obstructed view, but it was so neat to be that close.
The second time Orchestra Row O, which was great. Third, Orchestra Row R which was very nice too. If you have the chance to get any seats in the Orchestra, get them. Have fun!
I bought the partial view tickets for $56. Honestly, those seats were amazing. I was in Row J all the way on the end, which was good because I was slightly farther back. I think the partial view seats would have been a tad worse if I was closer up in the first or second row. I didn't miss anything at all.

Thanks for the input.
I was told by a friend that the best seats in the house are in the center front mezzanine.
I've been to many shows on Broadway and always found that the first few rows of the front mezzanine always gave me the best viewing experience.
I was just wondering if this was the case with Wicked.
I just saw Wicked this past Wednesday. The Gershwin is HUGE. It is much wider than the other theaters on Broadway, and even so, I didn't find the partial view seats bad at all since we were about 10-14 rows back. Also, it is stadium style seating. Each row is slightly higher than the row in front of it. Usually some theaters are like this, but the Gershwin's rear orchestra was higher than some other theaters. Because of that, I think you would be good somewhere in the orchestra.
As I’ve heard countless times, there really is no “bad” seat at the Gershwin. Just don’t make the mistake of buying “partial view” seats at full price (I see this on Ebay a lot). I personally like to be really close, so I’d recommend orchestra seats. Row L or closer is best for seeing facial expressions. Front mezz is best for seeing the entire stage, which is good too, especially for a big show like Wicked. So if you’re leaning towards front mezz, that should be fine. I say go for it, and enjoy the show!
If you can't get center orchestra or side orchestra right on the aisle, GET FRONT MEZZ. The view is gorgeous, the one let down for me is that you kind of (kind of!) lose the magical feeling looking UP at her during Defying Gravity, now you are looking down.If you're going to get mezz, don't get ones with double letters (like aa or bb) get center A-E front mezz. BEST mezz seats. Good luck and enjoy the show!
I so want to see Wicked on my April trip, that I am really thinking of giving in and getting a Premium ticket on a weekday ! It's $250, which I am willing to spend if there's no other way ! The seats Ticketmaster offers are HORRIBLE, either same-day (I've been checking out of curiosity)or for April ! I just wish I'll really like it, to justify spending so much for the first time !

I've seen it close and I've seen it far- and I actually prefer to be up and back- mezzanine is great.
Greekmusicalfan, I'd recommend applause-tickets.com. I got three center front mezz seats in the forth row for 150 a piece, and they are full view, they'll break up 4 into seats of three, and you can IM live operator for help. I was quite impressed with them.
Thank you, I will definitely try them !

Thank you all for your input. I just purchased seats for the Christmas Eve matinee at 2PM. I got Row C, front mezzanine center.
I was actually quite surprised that I got seats that good considering that those seats seem to be highly sought after.
It'll be a long wait, but I'm sure it'll be worth it. I actually bought more seats than I needed. I'll try to sell the extras on EBay around October or November to help defray the the cost of my seats ($130 per, $139 with fees).
Thanks again for everyones help.
