Has anyone done the Wicked SF Lottery and is it as busy as the NY one and what about especially on a wed afternoon?

My friend tried last week (on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening) and said there were about 80 people there.

First preview was startlingly empty. Not even close to NY numbers!

I heard the tickets they are giving away for Lotto are actually pretty bad..can anyone confirm it?

If they are the same seats from the last time the show was in town, and I guess they are since it's in the same theatre, then no, they aren't that bad. Definitely limited view.
They do normal lotto first for the 1st row, and then do lotto for the side orchestra seats, which I actually prefer. But they also tell you before pulling the extra names so you can decide if you want those tickets or not.

I passed by the theatre on Valentines day and boy howdy, was it ever crowded!

Anna, are you basing that off of then Wicked first came to SF?
Because I got that info from someone who recently won lotto, but was told that front row was not being given out, and instead got bad seats.

And um, It's not the same theater. When Wicked was first here, I believe they played at the curran..not the Orpheum

It was at the Curran pre-Broadway, then the tour was at the Orpheum. So they are at the same theatre as the last time the show played here.

The lottery tickets are pretty terrible. Extreme sides and partial view.

Won first preview - didn't go, was getting a friend in (hey, it worked! That *never* happens!) - fourth name called, and got a ticket on the left-hand block, second row. As far as I could gather, only the side seats were lottery, not the actual front row.

Yes I have won the lottery twice and the seats have been extreme side (left) orchestra. Definitely not a great angle for anyone's first viewing.
