I got back a few hours ago from watching the first live performance of Wicked that I have ever seen. It was amazing! I was really afraid that I was not going to make it at first because I was running late, but a little speeding and running got me there on time.

Kendra and Julia: The opening scene was amazing. I knew there were real bubbles that blew out at Glinda's entrance, but I did not think there would be so many of them. I think Kendra might have even swatted one away. Speaking of Kendra, she did wonderful! I had one problem though. I could not hear her very well. I wonder if she was not singing very loudly or if her mic was not turned on very high. I just know that whenever Julia would sing with her, Kendra would get drowned out. Julia Murney also did amazing. Her voice seemed a little off in the beginning though. For instance, the ending of "The Wizard and I" was kind of raspy, but the rest of the show was incredible for Julia.

Stage Door: I totally ran to the stagedoor with my friend after the show ended because of all the stories I hear about the crowds, but I forgot that I live in Arizona and that the people who go to shows here do not know who the actors are or where they come out. The first signature I got was Barbara Tirell's who plays the Midwife. She did a sort of master class with my theatre company earlier today, and she was incredibly inspiring. I was waiting for Kendra to sign my playbill too, but to my utter astonishment Shoshana Bean came out and I flipped out! I definitely chased her down and shouted, "Shoshana!" I dont think that she expected to be recognized or at least hoped to not be recognized because she was walking kind of fast. I realized that Megan Hilty was with her too, so I freaked out a little more. I was so upset though because I didnt have my camera. I finally went back to get Kendra's and waited a while for Julia. She finally came out and people rushed to her, so she said, "okay, everyone step back the door still has to open." I almost didnt recognize her because she has mediumish blonde hair now. She was incredibly nice though.

All in all it was an amazing night. I think I described my stage door experience more than the show, so there are any questions feel free to ask.

I can't believe Shoshana and Megan came out. That's crazy. Megan is so sweet re: Wicked Tour 8/26/06. Was Shoshana nice?

"okay, everyone step back the door still has to open."

Haha. I love her. How did you think the other leads were? Sebastian, Jen, Alma?

Thank you everyone, it was an amazing night!

Sebastian Arcelus: I was really excited to see Sebastian because of all the good things that were being said about him here, and he lived up to the expectations. He moved very well even with the awkward turns he has to do during "Dancing Through Life." His voice was also very good, very bright though.

Jennifer Waldman: Jennifer was a very good Nessarose. I never realized how small that role was. Even though, she sang very well, but seemed a little reserved during "The Wicked Witch of the East."

Alma Cuervo: I didnt really know what expect from Alma because I didnt hear too much about her, but she was very good. Her transition from daunting headmistress to evil press secrectary was great. Her singing voice is very beautiful as well.

PJ Benjamin: I loved PJ! He played a the wizard very well, a little crazy but you could tell that the wizard was over his head and had no way of stopping what he had started. He was great at the stage door too. He came out and asked everyone who wanted his signature who he played. He said he played one of the flying monkeys to one of the younger kids.

I think Kendra sings softly in the opening number because all that soprano stuff is a little difficult for her, so she's hitting the notes quietly as opposed to punching them out like Kristin Chenoweth.

Yeah, when I saw the tour in Detroit I noticed wierd sound levels when Kendra and Julia sang together. It almost sounded as if Julia had to lower the sound of her voice just so Kendra could be heard.

One Short Day was almost painful to listen to since I knew Julia had a much more powerful voice.
