Hey guys. Sorry about another Wicked thread - but my little sis wants to be Elphaba for Halloween. She lives in Missouri and since I'm in NYC they thought maybe I'd have a better shot of finding a costume for her. Any ideas? ANyone know if they actually sell costumes in a shop somewhere? Or patterns? Or just any ideas about something that might work. I'd really appreciate it. I just have no clue! Glinda I could handle. Pink dress?!? I have like 3 of those right here! But Elphie .... augh! PLEASE HELP!

A black dress, green makeup, the signature hat, and a broomstick.

Or, if you're good at making costumes, find a black dress and look at pictures of Elphaba on the WICKED website and try to get an idea from that.

I have my books and my poetry to protect me...

Since the running joke is that Elphaba eventually starts to look more and more like the witch in the movie (cape, broom, hat, etc.), I think your best bet is to go for, well...black clothes, a cape, broom, hat, green makeup...

I'm creative, I know.
You're welcome. :)

There are plenty of witch costume patterns out there. Fabric shops will have books of patterns where you can look at the pictures and pick the ones you want. Also I'm sure any costume shop would have a witch costume. If your sister is looking for an exact replica of Elphie's costume you might have to do some tweaking on the costume. Hope that helps a little...:) Good luck.

I don't know if it helps, but you might find a pattern in this book: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0896761258/qid=1095479635/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/102-8106788-7922530?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

It's a great book. I think I remember seeing a style dress in there that was similar to Elphaba's, but that might be my imagination. I haven't seen pictures of Elphaba much.

Try http://www.simplicity.com. They have a licensed pattern for "Wizard of Oz" costumes, and they sell patterns for Dorothy, Glinda and the Witch in one envelope. They're based on the movie costumes, though, so you'd have to do some moderate alterations. http://www.mccall.com has a costume styled after the dress Glinda wears in "Wicked" and it's more or less accurate to the stage version. But I have yet to see a definite Elphaba costume.

Rose - I can't find the Glinda costume on McCalls - any idea where it would be located?

Again if anyone else has any ideas I'd love to hear them!
