re: Wicked in London

Oliver...oooh, although i'd love Miss Saigon to open in the West End again...could this be more possible than Oliver due to the success of a recent Miss Saigon tour?
I can't wait for WICKED! YAY!

re: Wicked in London

There were rumours of an Palladium-production Oliver going on tour (starting in Plymouth) a little while ago, but it all went quiet.

I want to know which Sondheim show is going to open the new Sondheim Theatre whenever the work is finished....

re: Wicked in London

I heard that it would be the day the performances (=previews) start, not the opening night. Because MOVIN' OUT is closing in the Apollo Victoria in mid-July, so is there enough time for WICKED to get sets & lights in, adjusted, up and running before the start of previews which would be the end of August if the show opens 27th Sep? But, let's wait and see.

re: Wicked in London

Maybe they'll do a month of previews from Sept 27th and then open Halloween (isn't that what they did in New York?). Hopefully they'll open the box office in the next couple of months and we'll know re: Wicked in London

re: Wicked in London

does anyone know how to keep up to date on when the tickets will go on sale? Is there any kind of 'news alert' at all?
#35

re: Wicked in London

Tickets will go on sale hopefully in February, as they are reconstructing the stage they may loose some seats, so once the plans are finalised they will have the layout of the stalls.

re: Wicked in London

Wow, I was hoping to get tickets soon but I see this will be sold out the first day they go on sale! So you folks are all Wicked fans? ME TOO!

re: Wicked in London

all this talk about construction in the auditorium, i hope is true, this would mean that they are using a "proper" set like what is on in the Girshwin, not the scaled back Touring set that was a real dissapointment.

re: Wicked in London

"Wicked is the main musical I desperately want to be in"

whatever for Vick? There are so many better musicals.........50 years from now no one will even remember Wicked. It is certainly no South Pacific, Into the Woods, or West Side Story.
It's the fast food of musicals.......why would that be the one you are so desperate to be in? And I'm not bashing it...I saw it, it was cute, wouldn't see it again....but why is that the one for you?
It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story... AGATHA CHRISTIE, Life magazine, May 14, 1956

re: Wicked in London

I heard it was to be The Apollo in Victoria!

re: Wicked in London

It IS going into the Apollo victoria.

They are going to have the flying Monkeys that fly just infront of the circle in act 2. Construction workers have been in more or less every day making plans. The only considerable amount of work to be done on the stalls are the first handfull of rows. a couple of seats may be lost.

re: Wicked in London

Shame that Mary Millar of "Phantom" and "Keeping Up Appearances" and "Beauty & the Beast" died, she would have been an excellent Morrible.

re: Wicked in London

Surely that's the kind of role that Rosie Ashe (Phantom, Witches of Eastwick, Mary Poppins) does so well?

re: Wicked in London

does anyone know how much Wicked tickets are likely to be when it opens in London. I've heard that tickets to the premiere are really expensive- like a 1000 pounds. is that true?
#48

re: Wicked in London

HA! no, i paid 45 quid for my opening preview night ticket

re: Wicked in London

re: Wicked in London

Perhaps the tickets for the premiere on the 27th will be more expensive? What will be different between the previews 7th - 26th and the actual show 27th onwards? Why is it cheaper? Will it be less good in any way?
