So the songs in Wicked that were cut, one is called Making Good which Wizard & I took the place of one time on here I saw a link to the site that had the lyrics to the song, does anybody have the link to that site or the lyrics to the song it would help so much thanks!
"Which Way to the Party?" was cut an replaced with "Dancing Throuh Life". I think DTL was the better end of the deal.
On a PBS mini-series called "Broadway: The American Musical" there is a bonus feature on the third disc called "The Road To Wicked." It's a mini-documenary about the San Fran production before coming to Broadway. There is a lot of footage from "Which Way To The Party." It's not all on there, but I could tell that DTL was better. Look for those DVDs. You can rent them from Netflix.

Hmmm....as far as I can remember, "The Wizard and I" was always in the show in San Francisco. I do remember "Which Way's the Party? Which way's the next keg of Winky Beer? Which ways the party? The party's right here." I also remember "We Deserve Each Other" wich is still used in peices, but the full song was a duet between Galinda and Feiro. It was cute. I liked it. I miss it.
There are lots of changes I don't like, but it's still good.
wizard and i reprise was cut, making good was cut a lot of extra verses were cut

Maybe if I see the lyrics, I'll remember it. Who sings it?
If "Something Ba-a-a-a-ad" made it into the show, can you imagine how the CUT songs suck?
most of them were not that great, i do have to agree with mrrussel. But We Deserve Each Other wasn't that bad.
MisterRussell...
yes somethings bad sucks, but if you've read the book, it makes sense. It's one of the only moments that truly shows the opression of the Animals.. and Dr. D's fear.
Weren't Making Good and Which Ways the Party just modified versions of the current songs?

"Dancing Through Life" sounds very different from "Which Ways the Party." They both accomplish the same thing by making Feiro look like he is carefree though. The dancing was similar too.
I can't remember all the words, because it didn't stay in very long, but WDEO went like Glinda would say, "Anyone that blah blah blah blah blah deserves a blah that blah blah blah blah."
Then Fiero would respond--"Uh, oh. Anyone that looks the way that you do deserves a man that looks blah blah too."
Then Glinda says, "I know." and then I laugh.
Then the chorus is similar to the part that's left in the show.
I just remember the first day of Wicked at the Curran was around 3 hours and 15 minutes. They cut and rearranged a lot of things. I remember it was so hot in the theatre too. It hardly gets very hot in SF, so people were really uncomfortable--but they loved the show from day 1 despite the length and heat, so that says a lot about the cut songs and scenes.

"Which Way Is The Party" makes "Dancing Through Life" look amazing by comparison.
Making Good
Unlimited, think of it Nessa
The future is Unlimited
And, don't laugh
I have a vision almost like a prophecy, Nessa
You can call me crazy
True, the vision's hazy
But I swear someday there'll be
A celebration throughout Oz, that's all to do with me
You'll see
At long long last, I'm making my way
Out of here
Erase the past
And as of today, clean and clear
Today I start my quest
To find my special destiny
Be more than just the best I could
I'll be making good
Cause in my gut, I know I can do, something great
I don't know what yet, but when I'm through, just you wait
One day see all I've done, they'll tell me you're so wonderful
We wish back then we'd understood, you'd be making good
Good, I'll be making good
Undertaking new inventions or discoveries
Maybe find a cure for some disease
Maybe make some great injustice cease
Or perhaps create a masterpiece
Something that astounds
Something that amazes
Something that has everybody singing my praises
The shouts of love will burn through the air
And what's more
A certain governor will be there
Claiming credit for
This magic child of his, boasting how proud he is of me
For doing things the wizard would not even contemplate
So they can, go ahead and laugh
'Til their sides are aching
But if I do half
what I feel inside me waking
They'll be cheering after
I have finished making good
No, not making good
Making Great
WHICH WAY TO THE PARTY
Fiyero
In an institution such as Shiz
The academic pressure is intense
Enough to bring on indigestion
Boq
You can say that again!
Fiyero
When you're surrounded by authorities
You can lose track of your priorities
Which is why I pose this all-important question:
Which way's the party?
Which way's the next keg of Winkie beer?
Let's have too much to handle
Stir up a scandal
And hang from a chandelier
Which way's the party?
By now I hope it's become clear
Which way's the party --
The party is here!
So -- what's the most swankified place in town?
Boq
That would be the Ozdust Ballroom.
Fiyero
Perfect!
Let's go down to the Ozdust Ballroom
We'll meet there later tonight
We can dance till it's light
Leave the books on the shelves
Take our bad selves
Right on down to the Ozdust ballroom
We'll wear our fanciest duds
And I'll buy the first round o' suds
That's my suggestion To answer the question --
All
Which way's the party?
Fiyero
It's time to pin on a boutonniere
I found a lounge we can loll in
Where morals are fallen
Who wants to volunteer?
Individual Students
Me! Me! Me! Me!
All
Let's have us a party
By now I hope it's becoming clear
Which way's the party
The party is here
Second version
Fiyero
The trouble with schools is
they always try to teach the wrong lesson.
Believe me I've been kicked out of enough of them to know.
They want you to think harder, look deeper,
and cram all that stress in.
But I say stop studying stife
and learn to live the unexamined life.
Which way is the party?...
(As above, and then continuing as follows...)
Boq
Miss Galinda, uh, if you need an escort to the ballroom - I would be happy to-
Glinda
Oh how very kind. But you know what would be even kinder?
See that tragically beautiful girl over there?
In the chair?
Is it fair
we get to go and have fun and not she?
Gee-
I would feel so much better if somebody were
to ask her.
Why that person would shine like a star only brighter-
And he'd be my hero.
Boq
Well I could invite her!
Glinda
Oh Biq really? You would do that for me?
Boq
I would do anything for you Miss Galinda.
Miss Nessarose, there's something I'd like to ask you.
Glinda
So. You'll be picking me up around 8.
Fiyero:
Eight.
Great.
It's a date.
But don't be late because I won't wait.
Glinda
Don't be late because I won't wait.
All In Variation
Don't be late because I wont - wait.
All:
Which way is the party?
Which way?
Which way is the next keg of the Winkie beer?
We'll start it out frantic and then get romantic
I'll be the (chante clear?)
Hey one and all-
Head down to the party - party!
Let's heat up the atmosphere.
Fiyero
Which way's the party?
All
Which way's the party?
Fiyero
Oh which way's the party?
All
Which way's the party?
Right here!
Elphaba
Nessa! Oh... You look beautiful!
Nessa
And to think! I owe it all to Galinda!
Elphaba
Galinda?!
Nessa
Boq was too shy to ask me at first but then Galinda-
Elphaba
Nessa don't you see what's going on? She's trying to-
Nessa
Don't! Don't you dare say another word against her. If I were you I'd think about doing something nice for her instead of all this nastiness and suspicion. I'm about to have the first happy night of my life - Thanks to Galinda. And you've never been anything to her but WICKED.
Madame Morrible
Oh it does my heart good to see your sister looking so happy. Now where did we leave off last time? Hm? Miss Elphaba?
Elphaba
Madame. Suppose someone you thought was selfish suddenly did something incredibly kind for someone you love very much?
Madame Morrible
Not your fault.
Elphaba
Madame. I need you to do something for me.
All
Party down at the OzDust Ballroom!
Come on down to the OzDust Ballroom!
See you there at the OzDust Ballroom!
Madame Morrible
Miss Upland!
Glinda
Madame Morrible! What are you doing here?
Madame Morrible
I have something for you.
Glinda
Oh! A training wand! Oh Madame - how can I ever express my gratitution?
Madame Morrible
Oh, don't thank me. It was your roommate's idea, not mine.
Glinda
What? Elphaba?
Madame Morrible
Yes. Miss Elphaba requested that you join our sorcery class. She insisted that I ask you this very night or she would quit the seminar.
Glinda
Oh. But... why?
Madame Morrible
I have no idea. My personal opinion is that you do not have what it takes. I hope you prove me wrong. I doubt you will.
Fiyero
What is it?
Glinda
I got what I wanted.
Fiyero
Well then what's the matter?
Glinda
Nothing.
Fiyero
You know, you are alarmingly pretty.
Glinda
Well - of course!
Nessa
You know - I won't mind if you'd like to take a turn on the dance floor.
Boq
What? Why would I want to do that?
Nessa
You don't enjoy dancing?
Boq
Oh. Dancing at a dance is so... typical.
Listen Nessa-
Nessa
Yes?
Boq
Uh Nessa, I've got something to confess-
a reason why, well,
why I asked you here tonight.
And I know it isn't fair-
Nessa
Oh Boq, I know why.
Boq
You do?
Nessa
It's because I'm in this chair
and you felt sorry for me.
Well? Isn't that right?
Boq
No it's because - uh -
because you are so beautiful!
Nessa
Oh Boq! I think you're wonderful.
And we deserve each other.
Don't see this is our chance?
We deserve each other,
don't we Boq?
Boq
You know what?
Let's dance!
Nessa
What?!
Boq
Let's dance!
Fiyero
Well I'll say this much for her. She doesn't give a twig what anyone else thinks.
Glinda
It's awful... everyone's staring.
Fiyero
It's not like it's your fault.
Glinda
Excuse me. *clears throat* May I... cut in?
All
Which way is the party?
By now the time is becoming clear.
(Back and forth)
The party is here.
We deserve each other.
The party is here.
We deserve each other.
The party is here.
The party is here!
Here's a verse for Fiyero in "As Long As You're Mine" that was replaced:
What am I doing?
What's this I feel?
The boy who was certain
Love isn't real
And, some lyrics in "No Good Deed" that were eliminated:
Unlimited
The damage is unlimited
To everyone I've tried to help
Or tried to love
And, oh, Fiyero, you're the latest
Victim of my greatest achievement
In a long career of distress
Every time I could, I tried making good
And what I made was a mess!
Wow.wow. wow.
Ok....my favorite is in version 1 "our bad selves". HAHAHAHAH!
Version 2: Fieryo and Glindas chat sounds just like Dr Seuss.
Thank god for rewrites!
Though.. I actually like the lyrics for no good deed.
I have a copy of it somewhere. You can PM me if you want to hear it. WWitP is actually very catchy but it pales to the melody of Dancing Through Life. WWitP is very 'jazzy' and feels completely out of place when compared with the magical feeling DTL 's melody invokes. Plus, the song seems better suited for Norbert's DRS character Freddy than Fiyero. Also the song makes Galinda seem to be the demanding, not influatated by Fiyero (ie she tells Fiyero flat out, "So you will be poicking me up around 8?" before he can say anything; also Fiyero says: You are uncommonly pretty. Galinda: Well, of course!)
Oh and I almost forgot my story about this.
I made a CD with Which Way is the Party, Making Good, and One Short Day -Early Test Version- and gave it to David Ayers (current Fiyero if you dont know). I saw him after one show and mentioned if he got the CD. He sure did and he loved it. He must have thanked me like six times lol. I was so thrilled he liked it because it was my first real gift to an actor on Bway. As for the song, he liked it but found it to be very different from DTL and much less fluid. Plus, it must have been a ton of work to pull off. I told him that one day he and the chorus should do WWitP inseatd of DTL for kicks and he said sure lol. It would be fun to see but most people seem to prefer DTL anyway (my avatar seems to answer my allegiance I hope). Oh and I also told Norbert after a DRS show that Which Way is the Party was awesome. He seemed shocked that anyone knew of it. Better make him a CD quick.

Thank you for all those lyrics DefyingEDCT. That's pretty much how I remember "Which Way's the Party," except I remember Galinda saying the most swankafied place is the Oz Dust Ballroom instead of Boq. That makes more sense to have her say it. Also, Galinda gave Nessa her shoes originally.
I can say that I don't remember "Making Good" at all in the San Francisco version. Maybe it was added in the end or in New York and then later cut. I do remember all the other things except "Making Good."
I have recordings of all of the cut songs...if you google Idina, you should be able to find them on a website. If I find the site, I'll post it. (The same site has Idina singing "Not a Day Goes By", "I Have a Love", and "Imagine")
