The Duplex Cabaret Theatre is pleased to welcome Wicked’s KRISTY CATES this Friday evening. Cates will be the special guest at MOSTLY SONDHEIM, the weekly social gathering and singing extravaganza at the West Village theatre.

MOSTLY SONDHEIM, currently going strong in it’s fifth month, celebrates the music of the Great White Way, with a special emphasis on the music of Stephen Sondheim. Hosted by Brandon Cutrell, and featuring Kate Pazakis with Ray Fellman at the piano, the event has turned into a popular Friday Night party. Things get underway at 11pm, and run until three, sometimes four a.m. There is no cover charge and no drink minimum, just lots of great people and great music. The Duplex Cabaret Theatre is located on the second floor of 61 Christopher St., in the heart of New York’s West Village.

KRISTY CATES is currently featured in the ensemble of Wicked (girl with the parasol! and other things)… and understudies the role of Elphaba (for both Idina Menzel and Shoshanna Bean), having performed the role on Broadway several times. Other NYC credits include Boobs! The Musical, and numerous productions with The Storefront Theatre, of which she is a founding member. Look for her new cabaret show on Monday evenings in April, also at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre.

Kristi Cates is an old student of mine and a brilliant talent. I directed a production of INTO THE WOODS a few years back and she was the Witch. Fantastic! Haven't seen or heard from her in a while, but run don't walk to her show. Whe will not be in the ensemble for long. Watch out, Shoshana Bean!!

Ummm...why is THAT funny? I know several people who are currently or were on Broadway, who are yoga teachers. Many performers practice yoga (myself included) and once you're certified, it's a good way to make extra cash- and the hours are flexible.

I may have mixed up K. Cates with K. Candler. Isn't/wasn't she in Wicked too?

Yeah, Cristy Candler is in Wicked. She's the Witch's mother and US for Nessa.
