Hi,
I am going to try the wicked lottery next weekend. With Idina out, would there be less people there trying to get tickets on the lottery? How does the lottery work?
Also, what is the cancleation line and how does it work? Do you get to choose the tickets they have avaliable? Are they sold at face value?
Thanks
The lottery should be as busy as ever. I don't think those tweens care who's in the show or not. Seeing WICKED is like going to Mecca for them. How it works is you write your name on a piece of paper along with the 10,000 other people there and at around 6pm, they call out 12 names and those are the people who get the tickets.
People generally get to the cancellation line early and the tickets are sold at face value. Don't be too choosy, because they sell what they have which sometimes can be nothing.
I've got tickets out of the cancellation line 3 times. Each time the seats have been awesome. The first time we got 2 tickets center orchestra row H the second time we got 2 tickets center section right aisle row K and the 3rd time we got 5 tickets center section row L or M, I don't remember...
I don't even bother with the lottery anymore...it's such a joke. Plus, you can't do lottery and cancellation line so don't give up your spot to do the lotto because you probably won't win.
Oh, and get there early! A lot of people show up regardless of who's in. The third time I did cancellation was 7/3/04 and Eden was in and it was also the busiest time I was there. Perhaps due to Kristin's leaving soon thereafter...

Hi,
Thanks... So what time do the cancelation tickets go on sale at and what time should i start lining up at?
The last time I was at that theatre, I was told people start lining up around 11am for cancellation tickets. They might start earlier now. Just stop by the theatre and ask the rude box office people.
for a night show try getting there about 4, a matinee 9ish. In July we were there at 9 and had our tickets by 12:30 which was much better than getting them at 7:40 or 7:55 (that's what time we got them at in feb. we didn't get there till 5 though)
happy belated bday matt

They sell tickets as they become available. Which means it could be as soon as the box office opens or up to show time. The last time I went I just barely made it in for the beginning of the show. But I had seats in the first row behind the lotto so I didn't mind. I've got ticket thru cancellation line a bunch of times. For a matinee get there by 11 at the latest and for a night show I was there at 3 and we were second in line and got great orchestra seats. However, I have jumped in the line after losing lotto and I still got tickets.
how long ago was it that you did cancellation after lotto? That used to fly in Jan/Feb (I did it) but I don't know if that would work now that the show is so popular and more people know about the cancellation line...

Ok, so if i get there at say 3 for the evening show do they actually start selling them or do i have to wait around in the line for a couple of hours?
Oh i just re read meagans post.
I am going with someobe else so could one person do lottery while the other qued for cancelations? And what is stopping you from getting a lottery ticket then going into the cancelation line?
your friend can do lotto but once you're in the line you can't leave it...there's a man who stands there in a brown coat...he's not super nice but he serves his purpose and prevents it from becoming unfair.

I think the Cancellation Line is a waste. If you are going to do it, be prepared for the chance of being majorly dissapointed. Believe me, it happend to me.

The lottery will still be very busy, but it will probably be a little less busy. You know, maybe 950 people instead of 1000 lol
I don't think anyone in the Lottery line cares if Idina is on or off, so I doubt you will have less people. 99% of them are tourists anyway.
I have noticed however when I saw the show when Idina is out a lot of people returned their tickets. So if you want to see Shoshana the cancellation line will be your best bet. I'm sure you won't have any trouble getting in. Good Luck

I tried for the lottery 6 times before I was successful. I was bummed everytime, the last time I tried I went in not expecting to win, my name was called and I almost had a heartattack. It was probably one of the best shows I have ever seen. It was worth the waiting and disappointment!!
I hear ya AIDANYRENT---- i finsally won thst dam lottery one week ago exactly... after trying like 20 times! When they called my name it was the greatest moment ever..... crying on the winner's line in front of like 800 people is fun too, haha... but they give out pins!!!!
Your greatest moment ever? Winning the Wicked lottery?
Please tell me that's not true!

We did the lottery for the first time on Oct 9th...and won for the evening show...my friend couldnt believe it when her name was called! We got there at 5pm..and lottery sign ups started at 530..but there was already a good 200 people ahead of us in line at 5pm to just put their names in. We were told by the older couple behind us in line that on Friday night (the night before) they didnt even get thru all the people waiting to sign up when 6pm hit and they had to do the drawing. I would estimate that about 350 people were there for that night's lotto.
As for the cancellation line, that night they cut off the cancellation line at 15 people around 5pm..we could've had the last 2 spots..the guy in the brown coat who was mean turned people away from standing in the cancellation line once he had his 15 people. He told us that tickets would be released beginning at 7:40 up until 8pm..and there were no guarantees that they were even going to release any tickets...let alone get thru everyone standing in the cancellation line.

If you're willing to pay for cancellation tickets, then keep trying Ticketmaster. I got tickets for a Wednesday show on the Saturday before, and I only tried for that one day! Got 2 in Row L center.
As I went to pick up my tickets at around 6:30 or so, the people ahead of me got tickets in row G for that night, so those tickets were newly released.
So keep trying.

I've been thinking about trying the lottery too. Really, what is a solid estimate of how many people are there? Is there any one day or performance time that is better than another? I assume weekends are probably the worst, but maybe I'm wrong and I thought they called more than 12 people! Is that it?
I was told by some guy at the Gershwin that Tuesdays were the best time to try because people forget the show is at 7, not 8. That is when we tried, and we won! (It was also the week Kristin was leaving.) The most names they call is 14 I believe because there are 28 seats, and if everyone wants 2, well, you do the math. SO, 14 is the least, but if people only wanted 1 seat, they could call more names.
