Just got home from Wicked.
Katie Adams was on as Glinda.
There were at least 60 empty seats in the theater, despite the cancelation line of 200+ people.
There were more than 200 people on the cancellation line? Wow.

well they cant give away the seats unless people return their tickets. some people probably didnt even try to exchange or return their tickets and just didnt show up.
How'd you enjoy Katie?
My school's theatre club cancelled their trip for today. (That might have been the reason for all of those empty seats.) I didn't go. Two times is enough. I found it to get sloppy once the original cast left.
I'm a huge wicked fan, seen it 5 times and going again next week. I am noticing the "slop." The actors are all good but for some reason, after seeing it with the obc, the impact of the story faded. It seems like it's more about belting than humanity.
Well Eden Espinosa takes care of any slop. Her singing is so breath taking you won't pay attention to any slop, atleast for me.

Yeah, Eden seems to find sollace in all that American Idol stuff. It's not her fault, I'm sure....it's just the way that this, and her previous role, was written.

Enter Eden Espinoza....hired not to act, not to sing, not to emote any emotion...but purely to belt to the rafters....
Good for you! It is funny though how "everyone" gets the idea to do the cancelation line and lottery on "snow days" -- I remember when the PRODUCERS first openend, NYC had one of its worst blizzards ever - but the cancelation line was more popular than it even normally was!

Erm I think she was hired to act and sing the lines in the script. If she couldn't do one of those 2 they wouldn't have hired her and people wouldn't be raving about her.
Who's raving?
Let's see a rave from the Times.

200 Cancellation Line?
I have never heard of that, you sure it wasn't lottery line?
Oh, why are we talking about Eden?
She can't act.

"well they cant give away the seats unless people return their tickets. some people probably didnt even try to exchange or return their tickets and just didnt show up."
Umm no. People cannot return or exchange tickets, except under extreme circumstances (generally speaking). The cancellation line is for the unused house seats.
Please tell me a blizzard counts as an extreme circumstance...

Weather, Flights, Family Deaths are all reasons for being able to exchange tickets.
The WICKED Cancellation line is NOT just for unused House Seats, it is for returned tickets from people, and also from brokers.

YAY Katie! She's amazing!
The cancelation line was 200+, the lotto was over 300. They started doing it inside, but it got so crowded that both lines were forced outside.
Katie was cute!
Ok, I'll say this...I have never seen Eden Espinosa play Elphaba BUT I did the chance to see her in BKLYN before it closed...and I will say I'm going back to New York in March for the purpose of seeing Eden while she is back in Wicked...Her performance in BKLYN was outstanding...she might not the strongest actress on Earth, but in my opinion there is no denying the voice she has...it's unbelievable...
Some people have labeled her as bringing "American Idol" to Broadway, which I don't get..."American Idol" is NOT a style of voice, it's a reality TV show, get over it...Is Eden a belter with a voice that would translate well into the pop music genre? Yes, but who's to say that doesn't have a place on Broadway...It's 2006, Broadway is growing into many different styles being welcome...as far as Wicked is concerned...her voice fits right in...After all the original Elphaba, Idina Menzel, is basically vocally the same style, but I'd say Eden has the better voice...
In my mind I've seen all the Elphaba's there have been...I've seen Idina, I've seen Stephanie, I've seen Shoshana, and I've seen Ana...Stephanie Block was by far my favorite, singing, acting, everything...she was Elphaba...I am sure Eden will give an amazing performance when I see her in March, especially vocally...She really is a true talent...and an amazing addition to Broadway...the bashing I will never understand...

I love Eden, but I think by "American Idol" people meam, without her belting in a show, she would not be cast in it, and well, that is true...
"In my mind I've seen all the Elphaba's there have been...I've seen Idina, I've seen Stephanie, I've seen Shoshana, and I've seen Ana...Stephanie Block"
I'll add that I have seen Brandi, Kristy, Saycon, Eden, as well as all those you mentioned.

That cancellation line number is crazy. Usually the security doesn't let more than twenty people in it.

I've also seen all those elphaba's with the acception of Ana
(Idina, Shoshana, Stephanie, Eden, Saycon, and Brandi)
and in my opinion Stephanie is the most amazing!! She plays the character the way I see her. When I first saw her as Elphaba, she WAS Elphaba up on that stage. With Idina at times I never forgot that it was Idina. don't get me wrong I love Idina as Elphaba but Stephanie just blew me away! She will always be the best to me. But Idina and Eden are not far behind.
