OK, I know everybody is gonna hate me and get on top of me but I have the right to give my opinion: I think Stephanie J. Block's rendition of Defying Gravity is disappointing. She has a great voice, but she is just standing in the air without doing anything and at the end, Idina Menzel raised her broom with strength, capturing Elphaba's revolutionary and strong spirit; if you see Block raising her broom at the end, she does it in some stylistic way which I think fails to capture an important aspect of the character. I like her voice and I don't doubt she is a great actress but that bothered me.
The next scene on the clip is from Popular, and I have to say that the actress who plays Glinda gives a horrible rendition of one of my favorite numbers. I know you can't really judge by 30 sec. of film but still, she was not funny at all, and she tries way too hard to make people laugh, and I don't know if it was the clip but people were not really laughing at all. I just hope somebody else is playing Glinda next year when the show comes to Florida. Anyways, I'm sure most people disagree but I had to release my feelings about what I saw from the clip.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
