Have any of you attended the Wicked; Behind the Emerald Curtain "behind the scenes" tour/show? If so, any opinions? I saw an old thread without any concrete info from last year. I am interested in finding out if this a worthwhile thing to attend. Thanks in advance for any responses or contributions to this thread/question.
I just found it to be stupid, I mean you're not even backstage you are just shown a few video clips that can easily be found online, and most of the good questiosn we asked were either "not known" or they were not "at liberty to relise that information" dont go in my opinion.
I enjoyed myself when I went. It's true that there is nothing astounding on the tour, but it was neat to see some of the costumes up close and learn how many of the props work. Our question and answer session was a good one. I know this varies from tour to tour, but I found out a lot about the show that I would never have read anywhere else. Essentially things about how the show is stage managed, timed, cued as well as some of the technical elements (not the secrets of course). Don't go in expecting to be amazed, but if you're a big fan of the show, it's an interesting Saturday morning. Oh, I agree about the video though. That part puts you in the right mood, but it's nothing you haven't seen before.
same here, i really enjoyed it. although, be sure to know before you go (as others have said) that it is not a backstage tour. As FrontRowFirst said, you can get some history behind the costumes and they're right there. Also, i thought it was cool to be able to go into the theatre when really, there aren't a lot of people there and the curtain is up so you can see the stage and stuff. if you go, have a great time!
My niece is a Wicked-head thru & thru & she enjoyed it. Agree tho it is a bit misleading as there is an impled backstage tour which was not forthcoming and that bit diappointed her.
