Wicked, Stephanie, Idina, Shoshana, and Saycon Review

"No One Mourns the Wicked" - This was great on Broadway but not as good on the tour. Not as good of a set...

"The Wizard and I" - Idina does this great! This isn't Shoshana's song at all. Saycon was really shaky in the beginning. Stephanie was not to good on this song. The problem with Stephanie's voice is that it's so low. It doesn't really sound like an Elphaba's voice.

"Defying Gravity" - Idina, Shoshana and Saycon did really well on this one. Stephanie didn't.

"No Good Deed" - Shoshana was great. Idina was great. Saycon was powerful. Stephanie was horrible!!!!!!

I hope you enjoyed my review.

Idina - original elphaba
Shoshana - current elphaba
Saycon - current elphaba standby
Stephanie - current tour elphaba

WONDERFUL REVIEW! So in-depth and detailed with each number and each performer's rendition. And great reasoning for WHY Stephanie is so horrible. Her voice is low and doesn't sound like the soprano Elphaba is. Absolutely impeccable.

Yes, that was sarcasm.

Has Idina put a restraining order on you yet? And what happened to Bless Idina? Is she not worthy of it anymore now that there are different forms of life out there? Besides your girlfriend, of course.

From "If you won a Tony................"

Wow. Well, I didn't think I'd be up here....anytime...ever. Umm..guess I better start thanking people...Mom and dad, first of all. I love you both and can't say how thankful I am-Oh my god! This disk spins?! [starts spinning it around] Wow, I thought it just stayed there...wow!...[totally distracted by spinning thing]...Oh.

Umm, anyway. [darts eyes around] Kelly, Claire, Meagan, uhh, thank you, all three of you. I..want to thank...uh...the cast, wonderful crowd, producers, directors, techies, all you guys are great. (Which I'm sure they'll be)...

Oh God, can I stop thanking people? I'm bound to forget someone and then I'll end up feeling really bad later on at night. Let me just wrap this up: thanks for the people who nominated me and voted for me. [mouths - You guys rock! with a thumbs up sign] And BW-[is cut off]

So Stephanie's voice doesn't sound like Elphaba's voice but... oh wait... that's right... the music was written for her voice.

Wow! Couldn't disagree more about Stephanie. Don't get me wrong, I think Idina is terrific - always been a fan.....but Stephanie absolutely kills her rendition of 'No Good Deed' - I just can't get over how good it is.

And, as far as the 'Elphaba voice' is concerned....as mentioned before on this thread, this role was written for Stephanie (note for note!), so I don't quite understand where that comes from.

Also, I enjoy the warmth and power of Stephanie's voice. Idina, though terrific, can be a bit bright and nasal in certain pieces....specifically 'No Good Deeds'
