Just got back from today's matinee... was hoping to see Eden as Elphie, but Idina was in. (never a bad thing !!!)
There were whispers in the lobby that Eden would go on one day this week as Elphaba, but no one seemed to know when. I am curious to know if it will be tonight, because this was not one of Idina best performances that I have seen. Her pitch seemed to be off all day, and then at the beginning of "For Good" she seemed to lose her voice, and then cleared her throat a few times.
JLT is very good !! Second time that I have seen her. This role is hers now... her portrayal of Glinda is far different than Kristin's.
Joey M. as Fiyero, in my opinion, was the best new addition. I really like the way he plays the part, and he voice is very good !!
All in all a good time, but dont think that I will choose "Wicked" as the show that I will see on a Weds afternoon in the future. Tons of camp groups... all show, all we heard was chewing and plastic wrappers. Very annoying !!!
If anyone is going to the show this week at all, please post if Eden was in for Idina. Thanks !!
Idina needs a break. To me, I think the role she's playing is the most strenous one on Broadway right now. I can only imaginge the serious toll on you. I saw her a few days after she went to South Africa to film her movie and she was perfection. I had never seen her perform so well. Shes a great talent but she needs a break from this part for a while.
What about George? No one ever seems to talk about him.
"The stage is where I live and come alive and act out all the things that go on in my life. It's not just what I do for a living, it's my shrink and my love affair. No one in my life has ever or ever will kiss me on the mouth like this lover called my relationship with my performance."
I mentioned George in a thread last week.... he absolutely looks the part, and has a nice voice, but I liked both Sean McCourt and Joel Grey better. They have basically removed the dancing during "Wonderful" for George... (his dancing that is....still dances around a bit with Elphie)
I'm interested in seeing george. I saw Sean McCourt in June and I really wasn't impressed - but he was very new to the role
