Okay people- let the casting begin!
I know, I know- I'm jumping the gun, but these roles are SO much fun to cast.
Coleen Sexton- Elphaba
Laura Bell Bundy- Galinda/Glinda
Fiyero- Gavin Creel
I'm still thinking about the other roles. Suggestions, anyone?

I agree about Coleen! That would be great!

I stick by my nod to Coleen Sexton for Elphaba and would like to bring up my mention of Dana Meller again. ~nodnod~
I don't know any short women with coloratura sopranos. Maybe they can make a big to-do of casting from opera companies across the country to find the right G(a)linda.
Hmm. Well, as long as I'm talking about old favorites in Les Miz, it'd be fun to see Christopher Mark Peterson (final Enjolras) playing Fiyero, just to see him in a romantic lead part. I couldn't see Creel doing Fiyero, though I only saw him in Millie.
Now, the $24,000 question: who the heck do you cast as the Wonderful Wizard of Oz?
-Wayne
Does Penny Fuller sing? She'd be a pretty good Madame Morrible. For Elphaba, I'm completely stumped on who to think of for this part. Who is Miss Sexton? Never heard of her. For Galinda, I think her understudy on Broadway that went on for her a few weeks ago should be it- I heard she was awesome (sry I cant think of her name
) alrightie- who else? yes, who for the wizard?

Yes, I have said it before and I will agree and say it again.. COLEEN SEXTON
Coleen played Lucy Harris in jekyll and Hyde on broadway and is teh bright, glorious, shining spot on that DVD,, get that DVD just to see her... belive me she is worth it
Go buy the "Jekyll and Hyde" DVD to see Coleen. She plays Lucy. She is phenomenal- the DVD is worth her alone. And the understudy you mentioned was Melissa Bell Chait.
Now- for the Wizard....John McMartin? The Narrator from the recent Into The Woods revival.
I'll say Penny Fuller sings! Eve Harrington to Bacall's Margo in APPLAUSE. And REX. It's a great idea, by the way.
Does anyone know where to send fanmail at the Gershwin? The exact address and all?
Gershwin Theatre
250 W. 57th
New York, NY 10019
I believe =)
I would love to see Maggie Benjamin as Elphaba, Christiane Noll as Galinda, or Scott Hunt as Boq.
(I haven't seen the show since San Francisco, though, so if any of this sounds completely crazy, blame it on that. ![]()
Finally. How about...Colm Wilkinson as the Wizard? Yes, I am COMPLETELY joking...!
Flaemachen or Farin for Nessarose!

The Gershwin address is not 250 57th Street. It's 222 West 51st.

Sorry, I broke my own pet peeve...post when there is already a thread.
I have never been so excited to hear this wonderful news! This made my day.
I hope 2005 comes fast.
"Does Penny Fuller sing?" Oh, you young'uns. *sigh* :) Her rendition of "One Halloween" in APPLAUSE is the perfect blend of character AND vocal technique.
*blush* Thank you, my darling BillFinn :)
Penny Fuller is a fabulous idea for Madame Morrible! If anyone has the cast recording of A New Brain, that's the most recent piece of musical theatre she's done in NYC--she plays the mother and sings a hearbreaking "The Music Still Plays On."
I'm liking the Christiane Noll idea, too...she's definitely got the vocal range and would do a fabulous job.
I'm not gonna lie, i'm sure she won't do the tour... but i still REALLY wanna see Julia Murney play elphaba, i know she recorded a demo of DEFYING GRAVITY... i'd love to hear it. BUT anyway, Julia as Elphaba would be.. amazing.
Colleen Sexton-Elphaba
Laura Bell Bundy-Glinda
Adam Pascal-Fiyero
Adam Pascal won't do a tour. He has his son and expected baby on the way. He wouldn't leave them.
Christian Borle as Boq?
Another fabulous idea. And I wonder if Sutton would make a good Elphaba. I think she could do it. Does anyone else agree?

Matt Caplan as Boq would be glorious.
"And I wonder if Sutton would make a good Elphaba. I think she could do it. Does anyone else agree? "
Oh, totally.
I'd also like to see Michael Minarik (Bobby/Lockstock understudy on Urinetown tour) as Fiyero.
I hope they are using these two years to make a spectacular tour. I don't think Wicked would work without some of the "special elements".

I agree with you. If they do these similar effects on tour, they will need a couple days in between cities! Some of the theatre's design will not allow it, I am sure. Hey, I am not complaining! I want them to do the same effects and come to Cleveland!

If I were y'all, I'd try to modulate the frenzy I'm feeling as I wait over a year for the tour. You'll be setting yourself up for massive disappointment; what show could possibly live up to year-long roiling expectations? It's not worth the wait even if you have low expectations. So, I recommend distracting yourself for the time being. Maybe with something less important, like the presidential election?
