Posted: 5/8/05 at 10:44pmI also think the amazing Ms. Leslie Kritzer, who's currently playing Shelly and simultaneously understudying Tracy in HAIRSPRAY, must headline the Broadway revival of FUNNY GIRL. Leslie was fantastic in the Paper Mill production, and her voice--with its tremendous range--is perfect for the role.

oh and might i add..
Sutton wouldn't work for the mere fact that she might have the voice and comedic talent, but not the look
Menzel wouldn't cut it because she doesnt have the comedic talent, nor the consistently strong voice (consistent being the operative word there.
i wish i could have seen stephanie take on this role. she definitely has the vocal power for it, and while i think she could most certainly pull if off, i'm still siding with kritzer. she shines on stage like no other, has the voice, comedic timing, look, star power... this girls got the whole package and has the talent to jump out of the looong shadow ms. streisand cast.

Michael Musto in his VV column today mentions that Tim Curry is trying to convince Mike Nichols to direct a revival of FUNNY GIRL starring Sara Ramirez.
I guess if Fanny can't be Jewish she should be Hispanic...
