I have an onstage ticket for the Saturday evening performance of "Xanadu" waiting for me at the Helen Hayes box office, but a potential dental emergency may disrupt the entire weekend...i.e. I have a toothache and am debating whether to get it looked at on Monday or now.

Something tells me I'm simply out $50, but is there a way to transfer the ticket to someone else if I can't make it. Stupid question, I know, but if I can't make it, I'd want someone else to enjoy the show in my place.

This might be a stupid reply, but is there any way that you can get to the box office prior to Saturday? If you can, they should have no problem exchanging the ticket for another date. I had an emergency come up with my daughter, and they gladly exchanged my ticket for another date. They have no problem selling the stage seats right now.

OR... you can try and get in touch with the box office thru Telecharge, and they might be able to help you over the phone if you have your conf #, and/or credit card that you used.

As far as the tooth... I NEVER wait with teeth !! Feel better !!

Yes, there is a way. Since you ordered the tickets, you have to physically pick them up but you can do that several days in advance. When you go to claim them you can ask the people at the box office to continue to hold them until the performance but tell them your situation and let them know the name of the person who might be picking them up instead. Most box offices appreciate the heads up about this kind of thing and are cool about helping you especially if you go to talk to them when they are not busy trying to get the current night's show up. Hope that helps.

Broadwayjim, I just went through this so I can give you very accurate information. You do not need to go to the box office. Call Telecharge. They will work directly with the box office to help you out. I had to re-work several shows as I could't get to NYC due to pneumonia and they were super helpful and friendly.

Your options would be: 1.) Let Telecharge know the name of the person who be picking up the ticket and they will put it in their name. 2.)Ask Telecharge if Xanadu will honor "past dated" tickets. If the performance passes and you did not attend/pick up the ticket (they can verify this with the box office as well as having record that the ticket was not scanned for entry.)IF Xanadu is honoring past dated tickets, they will get you a ticket for another night (usually limited to weeknights and they will give you any seat, you get no choice.) So those are your options. Hope you feel better soon. :)

I'm 150 miles away and still trying to get up the courage to call the dentist, so the going to the box office is out of the questions.

Look like I may be calling Telecharge depending on how all this pans out. Thanks for your help.

OK..I finally called and they can't get me in until Monday afternoon--want to go to the same one as a friend because they treat him so well--so I will be at Xanadu...Orajeled and Tylenoled. I think it hit its peak yesterday.

A huge thank you to all.

Call the dentist and see if you should be put on antibiotics in the meantime. If he/she is going to be pulling a tooth (?), you should be taking prophylactic antibiotics at least 72 hours before the extraction.

If my friend's situation, which was similar to mine, is any indication, they'll probably do a consultation on Monday, take X-rays and if needed, give me meds then and schedule an extraction or oral surgery for another day.

Time will tell....

At the risk of appearing flippant, you are posting on a Broadway board not a dental board. You can buy teeth easier than some tickets.

Xanadu probably will not be past dating for a while. For future reference and this is if your tix are at the box office and you ordered through Tele-charge, they can be put in another person's name, but the second party cannot pick the tix up until 7:55 and will need ID then.

All situations have solutions and you've got yours.
