Will Eden Espinosa become a standby when Ana takes over?

When Eden Espinosa leaves Wicked on October 8, what is she going to do? I know that there are rumors she is performing Wicked in L.A, but the L.A. production is in February. What are Eden's plans between October and February? Will she become a standby/understudy again or play another role on another show?

this could sound mean...but that was a dumb question. why would she go down a part after playing it for a year.

The only example I can think of this happening that I know of is Karmine Alers going down to a Swing position after being the full time principle Mimi.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Oh! Actuallly, I do have an example...

Anthony Blair Hall was demoted for Aaron Carter in Seussical.
How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...

newsieboy23, I don't remember Charlotte ever being the standby for Roxie. She could have been, but I'm pretty sure she wasn't. I do know for a fact that Michelle Williams was never anything but the principle Aida in Aida. Saycon Sengbloh was the standby for the last two years of its run, both before and after Michelle was in the cast.

Charlotte has never been an understudy, but I have heard that a few times when there were no understudeis prepared to go on they Called her the day of the show, and she would just do it that night (and got paid well for that)

Well, Charlotte was ALWAYS an uncredited stand-by as Roxie, not different from her status with Sweet Charity. I could be wrong about Michelle Williams, but I thought she was the Nubian Soloist (Nebeka?) while Michelle T. Williams (Of Destany's Child) was Aida. Forgive the spelling.

Is this not the case?

ETA: Of corse, I mean Schelle Williams. Was she never actually Aida, and just the stand by, that might be where I'm confused. I saw her as Aida right before M.T.Williams took over I thought...

I assumed by Michelle Williams you were refering to the one from Destiny's Child. Sorry about the mix up.

Schele Williams was never credited as the full-time Aida.

You may be thinking of Maya Days. She was the first replacement for Heather Headley and played the role about 5 1/2 months. She left, had an operation to correct acid-reflux, and returned to the cast for another 8 months as the standby for Simone.

As for Espinosa, I don't believe she's going to be a standby. As the original poster mentioned, she's rumored to be opening the L.A. company (in fact, it's a very poorly kept secret that this is happening). I'm sure she'll just take a little break in the interim.

Eden's going to LA huh?? Interesting.... I kinda hope that happens cuz I've heard she's AMAZING, and I live on the west coast so I might actually get to go see her!! (Still hoping for Idina though with Taye in LA shooting Day Break.) However, if I make it to London, Eden would be great cuz then I would've seen Idina, Shoshana (tour lotto, baby!) and Eden all do the part!!! :)

I just dont want her to go. She is the reason I see the show.

Good, maybe people will stop seeing the show and it will close, and some real art can move into that theater.

Wicked is going to be different..I wonder how will people take to a very different Elphapa. Granted Ana is an amazing actress, she doesn't have the vocal ability that any of the past Elphaba's have brought to the table...along with the understudies. With Eden, Brandi, and Saycon leaving...I am wondering if the direction of the show is going to change. Anyone know who might be replacing Brandi and Saycon as the understudies? I heard Danyelle Williamson from the Chicago cast but not really sure if I believe that. She's an amazing singer but also just entering the Chicago cast, I'm not sure they would move her to Broadway so quickly.
