Posted: 4/23/05 at 2:27pmIt's had a couple of less than stellar weeks at the box office, but before that it was actually doing very well, with attendance figures in the 90s. No need to push the panic button yet.

Posted: 4/23/05 at 6:10pmTicketmaster is selling it through September 4 currently. I doubt that it will extend any longer than that.

Posted: 4/23/05 at 6:17pmDidn't I hear that Harvey had extended through the end of the year? I would assume the show will close with Harvey's departure. I also belive the Minskoff is being held for "The Woman In White" set to arrive there next spring.....

Phantom will close though...eventually...infact i would guess within the next couple of years.
I think Fiddler has done wonderfully well for a revival...look at the currect revivals...La Cage in the 50-60% capicity and so is Sweet Charity.
Woman in White is heavily expected to go to that theatre and i would give it until Jan 06 then it will close and Woman In White will open up in the spring. It is a shame it is a great revival, i think if the West End werent getting a few revivals in for their 05/06 years it would transfer, it definatly has another good half-a-year left. La Cage will close before then and Sweet Charity will only do a year.
I think West Side Story/Oliver/Anything Goes (london version esp)/Hello Dolly! are ones that should be reviving and of course I cant wait for A Chorus Line!

Posted: 4/23/05 at 6:20pm"The Woman in White" is indeed rumored to move into the Minskoff, and it would be the perfect theatre for it.

Posted: 4/23/05 at 6:28pm"Fiddler" should have opened this season. It would have won Best Revival of a Musical. I haven't been thrilled with any revivals this season.
#13re: Will Fiddler Close?
Posted: 4/23/05 at 6:31pmI'm hoping Charity will get good reviews, but expect it to get the same mediocre ones that La Cage got. There is no clear best revival this year....Oh well.

I hate that Woman In White is going into the Minskoff. What a dull and boring show. And in that huge cavernous inpersonal theater ...
Maybe since it is a LLoyd Webber show they might spend a little money and reconfigure the aqustics and perhaps add a isle.

Posted: 4/23/05 at 6:45pmOOps. How the hell do youy spell it? Is it Aisle?

Fiddler will close when either a)they make their money back, which could happen by Labor Day b) Harvey decides to leave
c) It drops below its stop clause, which could be happening as early as this week.

Probably will be slow because of the Jewish holidays.
But it is a wonderful show.
I should go again.

The Woman In White will be a flop over here anyway, In the WE it is already on TKTS for every weekday show and many websites are offering Mon-Wed Eves discounts....According to some West End contacts it will close Summer 06 and Evita will revive at The Palace Theatre.
Fiddler shouldnt close for this show...but it will!
#24re: Will Fiddler Close?
Posted: 4/24/05 at 11:36amFiddler should hang through summer. It is a great show for those camp groups. This week because of the jewish holiday I suspect the number will be dreadful. And people...Woman In White is such a dull show. London theaters don't release their attendance like broadway those.. but when I went the theater was maybe at 70%.
