It sounds like it could happen since the person that is playing Billy Flynn is currently scheduled to play the role until August 9th, it could mean Jerry Springer may take up the role yet again after making a limited engagement in the West End Chichago.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. I'd actually return to that snoozefest playing at the Ambassador if Springer joined the cast. I mean I doubt he'd be anything special, but it's Jerry Springer! That's actually some stunt casting I think would be interesting. Plus there's a certain meta level in having Jerry Springer, famous for his freak show, a part of Chicago, a show about fame and this celebrity culture built on negative attention.
The article on Playbill got me excited, the words Jerry Springer and Broadway made me expect the word Opera to follow, but alas, some dreams just won't come true...
