I know, but I am not starting ! After two trips in NYC, so many shows, 4 years here and a Broadway Legend status, I should really be ashamed of myself for not knowing the basics LOL
From what I've checked, some shows do general rush and some only student rush ! I have to do some homework before my plans. It's a good thing I have a lot of time till then !!!
I'm the same way. I only live right outside NYC but I always pre-plan everything, lol!!
I'm sure someone will easily answer that question for you.
From Talkin' Broadway:
Subject to availability, student rush tickets are sold at the box office, two hours prior to curtain, on the day of the performance. The tickets are $20 (cash only), a valid student ID is required, and two tickets are available per ID. Seats are usually in the front row of the theatre, though that is subject to change at any time.
I hope that no matter what the tickets work out for you!
With rush, lotteries, TKTS and discounts, I really feel like a fool, for having paid all that money for full price tickets, all this time !
I feel that way sometimes as well. I mostly always use some type of discount, but w/ rush & lotto I could cut that cost in half. But the time spent waiting for lotto or rush tickets (sometimes 2 - 3 hours) it really isn't worth the savings. That is my personal situation. Since I can afford a discount ticket or higher sometimes, I don't want to take a students chance at a cheap ticket. But then the other side of me says screw it, I don't know these people, lol!
My feelings exactly ! And it all depends on how popular the show is ! I'd never try the madness that is Wicked lottery, the crazy little girls will probably tear me apart LOL
And on another note, I've heard that things are quite slow in October, so maybe things are not so crowded !

am i missing something? i have seen the show 4 times every time i did rush and they always give out the sides of the orchestra, and most of the time they are partial view depending on where your seats are they are a certain number of tickets that are almost full view, it might have changed but as of 2 weeks ago when i went that was still the deal

Tarzan has student rush. You need to show student ID and you get your tickets for $20. They aren't always front row I've had seats all the way in the back and on the sides as well. I've seen rush crazy for Tarzan but everytime I have tried for it myself I was able to get tickets in line. They only offer 20 seats so if people are already there try to count to see how many tickets people are getting cause you can get up to 2 per ID.
I did SA student rush right after it opened. 2 hours or so in the cold, not my favorite moment, lol. I've tried Q & Bee lotto and lost. But then I finally won Bee lotto for Broadway night (we had seen GG earlier and said what the hell let's try). It's cool once in a while, but I couldn't see myself doing it that often.
I don't know grosses for October, but the weather is cool but not freezing, so rush shouldn't be too bad.

October people are back in school so I don't think it would be to bad. It wasn't last year. Depending on which day of the week you go or for a matinee or evening show.
I saw a Sunday night performance in Feb and I am pretty sure the rush tickets were front row that night.
Thank you guys ! That's it, no rush for me, too risky ! I'll just book my tix 3 months in advance and enjoy up close the gorgeousness of Josh !!!
I got my tickets through a playbill.com discount and got Orch Row E, so def. give it a shot!!!

i dont know if its just me, but i didnt have to show id either lol the guy just gave me the tickets everytime
I remember this past October, all grosses were down ! And many posters here, were saying, that October is always a slow month ! Actually, it was one of the factors that made me choose October for my trip ! Of course I can do something else. See the show with my pre-booked tix and then on another free day line up for rush ! I am sure that seeing him once will not be enough !

Josh is the only reason I go back and have seen it as many times as I have. Both Jenn and Josh are the sweetest people I have ever met!!
I hope Josh is NOT very sweet at me or I'll never catch another show while I'm there !
Tarzan student rush doesnt have a set location. Sometimes its front row, sometimes it side orchestra and sometimes its the last row of the orchestra. When i go, i have to sit somewhere in the front orchestra because half the orchestra has steps so the box office people are very accomodating. And it really isnt all that busy. i went today, I got there at about 10:30 for tickets that were sold at noon and was first in line. I got row A (which is the second row) side orchestra and Joshie came and growled right at me 3 times. :) Ive seen the show probably 13 times or more at this point and never had a problem with rush, if i wanted to be extra sure, i just show up an hour earlier than i think i should... the house staff are friendly so time passes quickly.

You've seen the show 13 times..... ? Wow..... Why this show?
Ahhhh irony. I usually rush Tarzan, $20 and often but not always first row. The nice thing about rush is that if you get there early enough and you can count, you'll know if you are in the first twenty *tickets* (not people, remember, yu can buy two on one ID). This as opposed to the lottery where you can wait for hours and have someone who walked up five minutes before the lottery starts get the tickets.
Anyway, I was determined to rush last night because it was Rob Evan's first day and I needed my BC/EFA autographed window card. Work, the subway, and fate conspired against me and I arrived in time to be... #23. We counted and counted again, and I was out of the Rush. I went to TKTS and the best they could offer was 9 rows back in the Mezzanine... so... I decided to reward myself for banking two As in the classes that just finished and bought a full price $111.25 seat... first row on the aisle, across the aisle from the seat I have sat in 3 times for $2o rush. Irony. And if you want to hear my thoughts on Rob, I will be posting another thread on that shortly.
cuz I like it? Ive seen hairspray more than a hundred times by now, so thats nothing. I saw Rocky Horror about as many times as ive seen Tarzan and that was in a lesser time span.
