Posted: 8/9/04 at 9:20amAm I supposed to know who that is? You people make me laugh out loud. You're all so skeptical when an actual media source has a news item about this sort of this but all this gossip from posters on this board is meant to be taken as the gospel according to the members of BWW? Who cares anyway? January is a long time from now. Updated On: 8/9/04 at 09:20 AM

Posted: 8/9/04 at 9:27amWait one second, I just (stupidly) bothered to go to that site and now realize that it is some random on-line journal?!? This is where I'm supposed to get my Broadway casting facts? Meanwhile, according to "Ben Brantley", it says that Bean is taking over the stand-by position. Is it any wonder why I stay away from this place as often as I do?

Posted: 8/9/04 at 9:27amFor starters it says she's taking over for Eden, not Idina. Two, Block has said that she'll possibly be returning to New York around the first of January, perhaps in time to take over for Ms. Menzel. So while Shoshana's amazing, she's not a definite replacement for Menzel.

"Shoshana Bean is replacing Idina"
This is according to what source? If you are going to make such an absolute statement, please state the source of the info for the sake of credibility.
"A friend of mine who is in the cast" if that is the supposed source, is not credible as the cast have been clearly warned about spreading any unfounded rumors regarding casting.

Al, what are you basing your judgements of Stephanie on? Your one and only time that you have seen her perform? And if I am not mistaken (forgive if i am) wasn't that during previews?
You should see her again. Her Birdland concert was phenomenal.
Try not to base judgement on a one time experience. Listening to critics and columnists and avid theatre goers now, she has come a very long way in that role. Her vocal ability was never in question. What was in question was her take on Liza, which I am sure you will agree is no easy task. To convey a force like Liza over a duration of 15 years in a mere 30 minutes on stage...Come on no one could make everyone happy in the first few months of the performance.
She's (Stephanie) awesome. Give her another try. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised.

Posted: 8/9/04 at 5:20pmI certainly hope Stephanie replaces Idina. That way I'll go see Wicked.

Posted: 8/9/04 at 5:21pmOutside of The Boy From Oz, I think Block is a fine talent. BFO, except for She Loves to Hear the Music does almost nothing for her. It's a really thankless role. I'd also encourage you to withold judgement, Al, or at least be willing to change your mind about her when she goes into something else.
