Do you think the release of the movie of Phantom this winter will help the B'way Phantom, or hurt it?
Will the movie kill Phantom? Or revive it.

i think it will revive the show..the trailer i seen for the movie looked pretty sweet...i am looking forward to seeing it!

it will most likely help the audience draw, but I never was fond of the show

The movie will help the show no matter how good or bad it is. For being a piece of ****, it's doing a fine job in every book. But what can you expect from someone with a Bush Cheney icon on a Broadway website. hehe

the movie will definitely help revive the show. The movie should keep phatom running on braodway for a long time to come (as is chicago the movie) so we are stuck with phatom now!

It will bring those random middle class people to see it i'm sure. It probably wont bring many broadway afficionatos (sp?), because most have seen it already, and either loved it or hate.
Also those tourist from other countries will probably come.

LOL! I wondered how long it would take someone to make a remark about the Bush/Cheny logo. It actually took about three minutes longer than I thought it would.

yes the movie helped the broadway production. there was talk of chicago the musical closing before themovie came out. Instead the moved the production to a bigger theatre (and gave gypsy the shubert)

sorry you are right by about 400 seats it is smaller. but chicago did move to make room for gypsy giving it the shubert...

My prediction is that if the movie is a success, it will do what it did for Chicago. If its a stinker, hopefully it will seal the fait on POTO the stage show.

I think it will help the Phantom, as many people may be curious as to what the stage version is like. Chicago, although it won Best Movie, wasn't something I heard about on every TV channel, billboard, website, etc., but it still helped Chicago the Musical gain more money.

I do not think the movie will hurt the show even if it's bad. The Broadway audience is still there.

I will say I loved Phantom 17(?) years ago when it was new. Good story, good score. I'm just over it now. A tired show like Phantom keeps going and going, while a fun, good show like Throughly Modern Millie closes.
