William Duff-Griffin replaced in PASSION?#1

I just found out William Duff-Griffin was the original Doctor in Passion, and that he was replaced in previews by Tom Aldredge.

Why was he replaced?


I'm glad Aldredge became Doctor, I think he was absolutely fantastic in this important role. He also made a big impression with a non-singing role.

I just read William died in 94 from cancer.

I'm assuming his health caused him to leave the show.

Sad.

The story I heard was that the original actor had an odd speaking voice, and that the audience was laughing - not at what he was saying, but at the sound of his voice. It was distracting.
