Who would be your ideal Eliza (or Higgins, Pickering, Doolittle, etc) in a Broadway revival of "My Fair Lady"?

I think maybe Emmy Rossum or Anne Hathaway -some of the youngins. Laura Benanti or Rachel York would be a couple other choices. And if youth wasn't a factor - Audra or Rebecca Luker. Updated On: 3/24/04 at 06:39 PM

After seeing Martine McCutcheon (a minority, I know), I can't imagine anyone else in the role.

I would go with Rachel York. I believe that woman can do anything after seeing her in Kiss Me Kate. Although Anne Hathaway or Emmy Rossum would be the smartest choices, because Hathaway already has a wide fanbase and Rossum the same after the Phantom movie. Hopefully, Hathaway will be tied up with "Women in White" and "Carnival!"

She should play Fanny Brice!

I have stated this opinion many times!

X-Tina = Fanny!

Beulah Bondi however, would be my ideal in the part of "the staircase" in My Fair Lady!!

Great idea, broadwaysweetheart! That would sure as hell sell a lot of tickets, and the girl is a good singer(She played Baby June in the Bette Middler "Gypsy" remake; not the hardest role, but she could do it with training), and she's GORGEOUS!

Thats funny I was thinking the other day about X-Tina doing a broadway show. She showed some decent acting skills on SNL and her singing is amazing. I just wonder if she could sing a song without riffing it all to hell.

WEll I'm not saying I'm for or against this, but Iw as just reading some old Kristin Chenoweth interviews (from late'03 and early '04) and she mentions a few times that she would love to put her own spin on Eliza and she wished that she would be given the chance soon "before she gets too old"...I beleive this was before any talks of an actual revival were mentioned....anywho, just some extra info!

Am I the only person Lacey Chabert annoys the hell out of? I don't like her singing voice at all. It's incredibly pinched and irritates me. (She's also played little Cosette on Broadway before her Party of 5 stint... still say she's annoying...)

i think audra or rebecca luker could still play eliza!! i think they still have the looks!! i would LOVE to see audra play the role and have brian stokes mitchell as higgins!!! not the would be AWSOME!!!! :)
