re: Wkd... you know you wanna read it

A couple quick things:

1-Steph has not said yes to the role, so it is not finalized. Not to mention that Idina hasnt said no to extending her contract.

2-If Steph takes over, she is FIERCE, and will rock this role out. The role was written for her voice, so it'll be awesome...trust me. Plus, her acting is frickin brilliant.

re: Wkd... you know you wanna read it

she lost out to Idina for the original role of Elphaba on Broadway, and now she's in Boy for Oz. I saw her in it, and she's pretty good, but no where near ready to take over the role of Elphaba.

re: Wkd... you know you wanna read it

i just thought of a possibility- sherie renee scott, after all she and idina have a bit of history replacing each other (sherie was the first replacement maureen in rent, idina replaced her in aida) I could see it working

re: Wkd... you know you wanna read it

sherie renee has her own gig with Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
So my dear you think you can get to Broadway. Well, let me tell you something. Broadway has no room for people like you. Not the Broadway I know. My Broadway takes people like you and eats them up and spits them out. My Broadway is the Broadway of Merman, and Martin, and Fontaine, and if you think you can build yourself up by knocking other people down... ...GOOD LUCK... Seinfeld

re: Wkd... you know you wanna read it

First of all, the day that Idina is amazing and Stephanie is blah is the same day that Brooke Sheilds is a good casting choice for....well anything. I've seen Stephanie perform two songs from Wicked and it was sensational. Second of all, Stephanie was offered the role (as a replacement to Idina) and turned it down. So, at least for now, she won't be playing Elphaba on Broadway. Third of all, Stephanie did all of the initial workshops of Wicked but in the end, the producer decided that the production needed a "star name" for Elphaba and went with Idina.

re: Wkd... you know you wanna read it

So it's official? Stephanie won't play Elphaba. She's so amazing. She really would blow the roof off of the Gershwin. Her voice is so much fuller than Idina's. I'd love to hear her sing songs from Wicked. Any bootlegs? She's so breathtaking singing "Never Never Land" from Piece. She's unspeakably amazing. I'm in love.

re: Wkd... you know you wanna read it

I'm not going to say it's official because you never know. But from everything I've heard, she turned it down.

re: Wkd... you know you wanna read it

I have to say, I think Stephanie would be amazing. I've seen her twice in TBFO, and loved her. She has a powerful voice, so I'm not sure what a few of you are thinking calling her 'blah'., but to each, his own. Anyway! I really hope something happens and Stephanie replaces idina, because I like Stephanie. Not to mention she is a doll at the stage door...

re: Wkd... you know you wanna read it

she did turn down the standby role offered to her a little while back, but now it seems people are saying she will star.

re: Wkd... you know you wanna read it

I can see it now, Stephanie takes over the friggin role and we'll be inundated with threads on how she wears her hair, what she eats, when does she pass gas, how mean she was at the stage door, how wonderful and *sweet* she was at the stage door...blah blah blah........

' she did turn down the standby role offered to her a little while back, but now it seems people are saying she will star. '

Maybe she turned it down because she wanted a real role? Not that Standby is bad, but TBFO has her on stage everynight, so. Also, Mar-whatevertherestofyourusername is, it really does help to have a nice, friendly person at the stage door. Maybe I've been spoiled, but still.

re: Wkd... you know you wanna read it

Hey guys... i was just at the Gershwin again yesterday and I
asked a different person at the theater about the new Elphaba, and he said the same thing... Stephanie Block. I asked where they hear these things from, and he said it's been pubic knowledge for a few weeks.
I don't understand how that's possibe... but whatever. Post your thoughts.

Also... if ANYONE knows anyhting about FTP (website stuff) please please please IM me.. gabbi416. I really want to get my Lisa Brescia website started, but i don't know anything about FTP. Thanks Guys!

re: Wkd... you know you wanna read it

I think sherie renee would be awesome! just think of her 'my strongest suit' then her singing defying gravity... too bad that probably wont happen

re: Wkd... you know you wanna read it

If it's anyone from Aida, it's gonna be Lisa. But it's just frustrating to hear the guys at the Gershwin taking about it, and saying they are 100% sure, meanwhile, no one else know. JLT was announced in eary May i think. So hopefuly within the next month or so, there will be a better understanding of who it is

re: Wkd... you know you wanna read it

Stephanie has been a HUGE rumour in all of it.

Agreed, to both Sherie Scott & Lisa Brescia. I talked to Lisa in early August and she said she had no idea what she was doing after Aida, other than following her boyfriend to PSU for a show he's directing. As much as I'd LOVE for her to do Elphie, it probably wouldn't happen.

Sherie's definitely focusing in on Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in SF right now and then to Broadway in March - so that's definitely a no.

Stephanie Block is amazing, so it wouldn't be any disappointment to me. Sure, I'm an OBC whore - but she's the original ORIGINAL Elphaba.

re: Wkd... you know you wanna read it

Well! i found this on Stephanie's website:

THE LATEST FROM STEPH!
Hi all...So Broadway will be saying goodbye to "TBFO" on Sept.12. The cast/crew will, of course, miss the show but we are all at peace with exiting as a hit...sold out houses, screaming, loving audiences and our Hugh as the one and only Peter (besides Peter Allen himself) We will be going out on a high! It's been a beautiful year and I couldn't ask for more... After closing I will take a long awaited vacation. Hooray!!! And then head out to Los Angeles for a few months. There are a few projects I'm working on that are at the beginning creative stage. I love being involved on the ground floor. I won't be gone for too long. I hope NYC will welcome me back at the first of the year...leaving Southern CA's perfect weather for a New York winter...am I crazy?! Anyway, be well and keep checking in for updates! thanks:) - Stephanie

Don't you think it's a little strange she'll be returning on the firt? I think it quite possibly could mean she' in the role, BUT! Wouldn't she need to go to rehearsels (Wow, spelled that WRONG!) with the rest of the cast?
