"I find it very similar to ALW's other stuff."
I disagree with you. I find it to be one of ALW's most "Mature" musicals that isn't trying to sell one or two songs (even though "I believe my heart" was released as a pop song). I love it to death. I was/am addicted to it. I will find a way to go to NYC to see, oh yes......I will!!!

I couldn't agree more. For all of those who complain that ALW shows have too many "pull out" songs, they can have little to say along those lines with this show. Most of the songs would, I think, be hard to do out of context. There are a couple of big ballads for those of us who like them, but how many singers are going to want to record "All for Laura" or "I Hope You Like It Here" or "If Not For Me, For Her," or Fosco's "You Can Get Away With Anything"? They can be done, I suppose, but they don't lend themselves to "covers" as well as many songs from his other shows.
(Can't see "Get Away With Anything" without the rat, but no doubt someone will try)

ALW is the worst thing to happen to musicals ever. I like seeing other people like WhiteRabbit, who hate that stuff.
commasplice, thats so cool that you are trying out. when are these tryouts anyway?
I don't hate him, I dislike SOME of his work. I liked Phantom and Joseph was the first musical I ever saw and I liked it too. Although those are the only ones I enjoyed I'm still giving the woman in white a chance, and seeing it in Chicago.

Ohnono, not like trying out to be in the show - tryout like 'out-of-town tryout' (testing it in another city) for a show. I'll be the first to admit I can't sing worth anything; they would never cast me

oops! my bad. i'm a little dense when it comes to the whole terminology thing. you'll never believe the bashing i got when i called a cast recording a soundtrack. anyways i hope you enjoy the show.
whiterabbit, you should make up your mind. in your first post you said you hate him. then in your second post you said you kinda hate him. well anyways the show will be bad. did you see the people freakin out when they thought it was coming to the nederlander theatre. LOL! that is entertainment!
So, ALW is the worst thing to happen to broadway huh? Well, did you know that ALW pioneered a lot of what is on broadway today? Did you know that shows like Phantom and Evita brought in some much needed money during the 1980's when broadway was in kind of a rut? And just because a musical has his name on it, it automatically makes it bad? That is the biggest piece of CRAP I have heard in a great long while.
I want to clarify that I don't think that any musical ALW does is crap. I just don't like most of them, and I'm looking forward to getting to see 'the woman in white'. From what I've heard it is supposed to be a lot better. BTW where is the website where the clips are.
P.S. I think McShoSlut is trying to make me look bad.
I wasn't directing my comment to you, WhiteRabbit.....it was toward McShoSlut. I don't care if you don't like all of his musicals or any of them in that matter but when you say ignorant comments, I have something to say.
ANYWAY
If you want to listen to a few seconds of each song you can go to amazon.com or you can go to the main website and watch an 8 minute montage of clips from the show.

Awesome, thanks for the link.
no problem
McShoSlut - "ALW is the worst thing to happen to musicals ever."
Hardly. He actually played a major part in paving the way for a new era of musical theatre when it was in a major low and helped to revive it. But considering your inexaustible knowledge of the history of musical theatre, which has been subtley pointed out to us by the use of the word "ever", would you care to support your theory?
"well anyways the show will be bad."
Excruciatingly poor grammar aside, such a declaration is not only merely an opinion rather than the declaration of fact it desperately attempts to be, but given that the show already exists and has been running in the UK, the prognosticative use of "will be" is nothing more than a humorous display of ignorance. So tell us, are you feeling particularly blissful?
So I listened to the clips from the show and was pleasantly surprised. I think it should be good. I'm definitely looking forward to checking it out.
