Hopefully someone can help answer this question...Does Woman in White have a rush, lottery, etc.? And if so, what are the logistics surrounding it. Thank you so much.
Happy New Year
no type of rush or lotto... the cheapest tickets are the $26 last row mezz. seats... but those are just sold normally through the box office
I read somewhere that ALW is STRONGLY against student rush. If i remember correctly he was quoted "Why should they pay less? Its not like they are shorter than adults..."
Oh you silly little british man :)
It would make sense, given the fact that most of his shows don't have rush. Phantom doesn't, Cats didn't, and WiW doesn't. Anyone remember if Sunset Boulevard did? What about that JCS revival from about 5 years ago?
Well, I have no idea about ALW's stance on student rush, but I the reason that The Woman in White doesn't have rush is because the Marquis never offers rush, due to the $25 last row seats. It was the same for La Cage, Millie, etc.
Sunset Boulevard did have Student Rush tix, since I saw the show 8 times on Broadway and benefited by their having it. So I doubt ALW would be quoted saying something so stupid as "why should students pay less".

A very long time ago ( 1990, I think), we were in NYC and wanted to see, among others, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. We bought tickets from one of the people hanging around outside the theatre lobby. I think we paid $ 100 each for the tickets. As it turned out, the seats were located at the last row of the mezz and when we scrutinized the tickets, I do remember that they were STUDENT tickets for $ 20 each!
Yeah, the only rush you have to worry about with THE WOMAN IN WHITE is RUSH to get as far away from the theater a possible!
Don't waste a penny or a minute on that junkfest.
I try! :)
Tell me, have you been made to suffer through that Broadway IMAX experience?
They should pass out dramamine in the lobby before the show.
I didn't suffer through it at all. Enjoyed every minute of it, thought it was one of the best things I've seen in a while and looking forward to going to see it again.

Rush to the theater not away from it. The performances are stunning and it is, IMO, ALW's best and most intriguingly delicious score. The plot is juicy and the set is incredibly different. It's not as dizzying as people say. People tend to exaggerate.
Just go and get your 26$ rear mezz seats. I sat there for LA CAGE and it's not bad.
yeah...that is a Marquis theatre thing...it was the same for "La Cage". ALW doesn't care about student paying less im sure.

I just came back from WIW. Loved everything about it. The thing that struck me the most was the voices. Maria Friedman and Michael Ball are a given and so is Ron Bohmer. But I think that en masse that show must have the best voices on Broadway right now. They were great. I really think that the projections may be the wave of the future. And tonight everything worked brilliantly. As a bit Off Topic. I really think Michael Ball deserves a Tony nod for his performance. He just commands the stage in every scene he is in and brings you into his little web of deceit. Great evening.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Isn't the show just fantastic?? I agree about Michael, and Maria, and the whole cast. They're just so impressive, it's a pleasure to watch... I hope as a company they all get rewarded for their efforts and talent @ the Tonys

I agree that the principals in THE WOMAN IN WHITE comprise the best singing cast on Broadway at present. What a pity that there seems to no plans to release a Broadway cast recording of the show.
Glad you enjoyed the show, Sharon!
Jo
They really should record it with company because frankly i listen to Crawford sing these songs and i am sooooooooo disheartened! Michael Ball is leaps and bounds better!!!!
ps. Anybody else loath the annoying projections?

I've also been thinking - this show is quite an excellent example of contradictions.
*The story is set centuries back but they way the story is told so effectively is through the use of theatre's future technology.
*Some of the principal cast are leading lights in their own right - Maria Friedman, Michael Ball, Ron Bohmer - and yet this is more of an ensemble piece where each principal cast member contributes significantly to the story.
*Some people moan the fact that there are not many recognizable songs in the show, but others say this is Andrew Lloyd Webber's most sophisticated musical score.
*The show itself is very different from the current trend of musical comedy or jukebox musicals on Broadway.
Just some impressions.
RentBoy- depends on the day, usually those $25 tickets are sold out but still pop up on ticketmaster every once in a while.
and Jo- very interesting observations, never thought of some of those before, but I especially agree with your first one. It's such a timely story- everything from the costumes, to the plot, and language... but then it's surrounded by this modern technology which in reality- sounds like a disaster (and I know some people think that it is...) But for me, it just works, and makes it that much more effective...

I saw it and absolutely enjoyed it!!!! The cast is phenomenal!!!
RUSH? Yes RUSH to see it!!! It's like nothing you've seen on Broadway before! If you need the more economical seats, go for it!! Just to be in the same building with Maria, Michael and the rest of the cast is an outright privilege!!!
