Posted: 6/14/05 at 8:43pmWhat do you guys think, smart move or no. I think it was a bad move. From what I hear about the show, it sound like it needs to brew interest in other areas before Broadway.

Posted: 6/14/05 at 8:45pmI think it looks boring as all hell. The Marquis might have another flop on its hands.

Posted: 6/14/05 at 9:10pmOr ALW has another NY flop on his hands. Is there really much interest in this on Broadway?

Posted: 6/14/05 at 9:13pmBummer- there went my idea of a trip to Chicago to see Woman in White and the sit down company of Wicked! Seriously, I think that this was a bad move and that it would have been a lot better to have built some momentum before heading to NY.

Posted: 6/14/05 at 9:32pmI love the show. I don't care what they do. I just hope that it is successful.

Posted: 6/15/05 at 1:04amthat sucks, I'll just see it in London while I'm there I guess :)

Posted: 6/15/05 at 2:06amSpeculation is that they want Michael Ball, who will be in NYC in PATIENCE until October 5. The opening night for WiW is November 17 so he *could* do it if the show opens in NYC.

Yeah, I think this show could have used an out of town tryout. Just cause it worked in the West End doesnt mean it will work in the NYC.

Posted: 6/15/05 at 3:09amI think it will work....I the London recording of the show and I like it alot....I can't wait to get a chance to see it. I really doubt that this will be a flop.

Posted: 6/15/05 at 8:38amIt was a splendid production, the highlight of my last London trip, it's dark, but rewarding.

Posted: 6/15/05 at 11:51amIt is an excellent show, but for non-theatre people not like us, are they really going to know what this is? On another point, maybe theyll see ALW and say, "Hey Betty isnt that the guy who did Phantom, why yes harold it is lets go see that show". I do think that it would have been wise for them to go to Chicago first, work out some kinks, maybe fix a few things, drum up some buzz. We'll see... I hope it does really well.

I think this is going to do very well for itself. I really don't believe this is going to be a flop. I wouldnt be surprised if it lasted up to 3-4 yrs on Broadway. The music is incredible!
I hope Maria, Martin and either Michaels show up in this production.

Adam, Michael C has already publicly announced that he would NOT be reprising his role in the U.S. Cast. Think the news came out in late April early May.
It's possible that the actresses who play Anne and Laura could be reprising their roles, as they are both Americans. I, too, would love to see Maria and Martin also go to NY. And I've already voiced my wish as to who should be playing Count Fosco...
