I was thinking about this the other day, and wanted to get BWW's opinion: today, a lot of shows go through a pre-process of workshops, or developmental labs, or whatever, and then go into production. Why do you think hows don't go down the road of putting up the money, then going to Boston, then Detriot to figure things out instead of a workshop? I know that part of a big cost, but still. Also, do you think something like "Allegro" or "The Golden Apple" or " could have been worked out in something like a lab, or workshop? And what if something like "Gypsy" or "West Side Story" or "Kiss Me Kate" had ben workshopped before it got produced? What good or bad do you think would have done?
