A former colleague of mine, an arts critic, spent the weekend at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, where he was excited to review a new musical by Jeff Whitty (Avenue Q). It’s a fascinating read about a very messy show, but one that Bob found intriguing, too. "It had its moments, even a few brilliant ones. But it needed shape. It needed vision. It needed coherence. And it badly needed someone to rein in the embarrassing opening-night curtain call.”
